Man Utd player ratings: Bayindir fluffs rare chance to show what he can do

ALTAY BAYINDIR had a match to forget as Manchester United were dumped out of the Carabao Cup.

Not many Red Devils could impress as they were defeated by Tottenham Hotspur.

The 26-year-old Bayindir had made a mistake as Tottenham took the lead in the first half.

The Turkish stopper could only parry Pedro Porro's attempt into the path of Dominic Solanke, who fired in the rebound.

Dejan Kulusevski made it 2-0 when he took advantage of a weak ball from Lisandro Martinez before Solanke got his support to make it 3-0.

A shining light in the performance was the efforts of Bruno Fernandes as he set up Joshua Zirkzee to tap home.

Amad Diallo gave the Red Devils hope as his determination earned a second lead.

However, the result was beyond doubt when Bayindir let Son Heung-min's corner fly all the way in.

Jonny Evans scored a late header from an Amad corner as a consolation for the traveling fans.

SunSport's Katherine Walsh has given her assessments of Man United's squad…

Altay Bayindir-2

Wasted his audition after Andre Onana's recent blunders against Nottingham Forest and FC Viktoria Plzen.

Was responsible for Spurs' opener when he spilled Pedro Porros' shot into the path of Dominic Solanke inside 15 minutes.

Did well to deny Dejan Kulusevski from close range about ten minutes later, but conceded three more goals far too easily.

His nightmare came to an end when he flapped as Son made it 4-2 from a direct CORNER in the 88th minute. Maybe Onana isn't so bad after all?

Victor Lindelof-4

Caught slack and lacking and a mile behind as Spurs' front line echoed around United for most of the game.

It is therefore no surprise that he left the match injured just before half-time.

Leny Yoro-5

Was physically targeted by Solanke in the first half, but the 19-year-old was able to withstand him and Son Heung-min quite well.

Laughed by the home fans when he was nutmegged by Djed Spence and was lucky when referee John Brooks blew for a foul early on.

He made a cracking tackle on Son in the 86th minute, just before a noisy home game, but Son scored from the direct corner.

Lisandro Martinez-3

He was everywhere and sucker beat his own team, which, even if it was not at the races, despite scoring three goals in the second half.

Tottenham's second assisted immediately as Maddison's cross hit his outstretched back leg and into the path of Kulusevski from five yards.

Solanke also passed him to make it 3-0. And he fell back for a chance to make it four before the subs brought hope.

Diogo Dalot-6

The only United defender who had any idea.

Solid crosses and substitutions in play as you pressed the makeshift Spurs backline, which often overplayed.

Christian Eriksen-6

Was inches away from the equalizer at 1-0, but was blocked by Yves Bissouma.

He hit several corners as he had to take from both sides, but was clapped away by the home fans as he made way for Kobbie Mainoo.

Manuel Ugarte-4

The midfielder may have stolen Martinez's 'Butcher' title at Man Utd as Spurs fans looked to score him with a booking.

Constantly committed fouls and conceded dangerous free kicks, which is not ideal when the opponent has James Maddison in their ranks.

Spurs scored from that dead ball. He almost poked Kulusevski's cross into his own net, but made sure the ball went just wide.

Noussair Mazraoui-5

Expected a difficult evening against Son, who made great progress with several complicated passes.

Booked for catching Djed Spence, Amorim's head was down when Maddison took the free-kick.

On the eve of half-time, he could not take his chances properly.

Anthony – 4

A nervous start saw him lose the ball in a dangerous position with a minute to go, allowing Son to go wide and Brennan Johnson to come in.

Too nonchalant with the ball and put pressure on the visitors in the early passages.

In fact, he gave the home fans something to laugh about every time he lost the ball, and that was several times against 18-year-old Archie Gray.

Bruno Fernandes-6

He did his creative work when he could and put Hojlund through in eleven minutes, after which the Dane blurred his lines.

Curled just wide from outside the area and assisted Zirkzee's goal to give the traveling side a glimmer of hope.

Received a yellow card for Sarr for a tackle from behind and was booed before his free-kick hit the top of the net.

Rasmus Hojlund-5

I rarely got the impression that United were working on the counter early and were weak on the ball when they received the ball.

He was beaten and bullied by the makeshift Spurs backline of Gray and Radu Drăgușin and was replaced by Joshua Zirkzee in the 55th minute.

SUBS

Jonny Evans ('44 Victor Lindelof) – 4

Solanke hit the ball through his legs to make it 3-0.

Bizarre got on the scoresheet with a last-minute consolation with a header from a corner.

Kobbie Mainoo-('56 Eriksen)-6

He waited on the sidelines before Solanke tripled Spurs' lead and provided some much-needed calm with his side trailing 3-0.

Joshua Zirkzee – ('56 Hojlund) – 6

Had United's first effort on target in the 61st minute but his header was well kept out by Fraser Forster.

But gave United hope when he made it 3-1 a minute later after a Forster blunder.

Did better than Hojlund in the muscular Dragusin.

Amad Diallo – ('55 Antonius) – 8

Just like Martin Odegaard did against Palace last night, the introduction of Amad sparked a turnaround for the Red Devils.

The tricky winger made it 3-2 when Forster's incredible pressing made ANOTHER mistake from a routine free-kick.

The star of the show repeatedly fed the ball to Fernandes, who provided an assist for Zirkzee's goal and gave much-needed impetus to United's forward play. Took the corner from which Evans scored.

Alejandro Garnacho ('72 Ugarte) – 5

The substitute everyone was waiting for after he was subbed off for United's 2-1 win against Man City on Sunday.

Chased every ball, but loses points due to the crazy impact of the previous substitutions.
