Man Utd ratings: Andre Onana drops clanger to gift Brighton three points

ANDRE ONANA was back to his worst as Manchester United suffered another defeat at Old Trafford.

It looked like Ruben Amorim's side had turned a corner in recent weeks with a draw at Anfield and an FA Cup penalty shoot-out win at Arsenal.

But terrible individual mistakes cost them again, with Onana as the main culprit.

The keeper was at fault for two of Brighton's three goals. He delivered a huge bang when he delivered a simple cross straight to Georginio Rutter without any pressure.

A few minutes earlier, he watched Yankuba Minteh float a cross across the six-yard box that he had been sent to collect. Because he didn't, Kaoru Mitoma was given a simple tap at the back post.

There were few positive notes for the Red Devils, as Amad once again provided the spark.

Here's how SunSport's Ken Lawrence assessed the United display.

ANDRE ONANA-2

No chance on the Seagulls' first goal. But he let a cross float over him, allowing Mitoma to add the second, before a terrible roar gifted them with their third.

MATTHIJS DE LIGT-5

It certainly doesn't look like he likes players running towards him like Kaoru Mitoma constantly did. He seemed unsure of himself all the time.

HARRY MAGUIRE-6

The only member of United's three-man central defense who looked like he knew what he was doing. Starts to believe in himself again.

LENY YORO-5

The £52million youngster is still establishing himself in the Premier League, to be fair to him. But he certainly takes his time.

NOUSSAIR MAZRAOUI-4

It was one of the few consistent successes of Ruben Amorim's tactical revolution. Yet this time he had a real shock.

MANUAL UGARTE – 5

The midfielder, supposedly “tired” after the 3-1 win over Southampton, looked brighter here. Yet he still doesn't look that excited.

KOBBIE MAINOO-4

Where is Kobbie from last season? Looks nothing like the vibrant homegrown midfielder who burst onto the scene last season.

DIOGO DALOT-5

Fulfilled his duties as a left wing-back as best he could. Another United player who didn't look sharp enough though.

AMAD DIALLO-7

Thursday night's 12-minute treble hero on a high again – unlike, once again, so many teammates. Sometimes his footwork is just dazzling.

BRUNO FERNANDES-6

He was super cool from the spot, but that goal didn't do much to raise his performance level. Had one of those days where nothing really clicked.

JOSHUA ZIRKZEE-5

'Won' the penalty after being taken down, although Carlos Baleba's challenge would have looked good in a wrestling ring. There's a football player in there somewhere…

SUBS

ALEJANDRO GARNACHO (for Mainoo 64) – 5

Struggling to make an impact in a team that was broken up.

TOBY Collyer (for Ugarte 64) – 5

Sufficient youthful commitment, but still too inexperienced to lift a side as poor as Amorim's.

ANTONIUS (for Mazraoui 84) – 4

Talk about a final dice roll by Amorim???

RASMUS HOJLUND (for Zirkzee 84) – 4

Given a thankless task in the closing moments of another depressing display.
