The January transfer window is a difficult time to do business – but Manchester United has achieved a good part of the winter victories.
Ruben Amorim has already been busy during his first January window in Old Trafford after he had moved to sign defender Patrick Dorgu van Lecce. The Red Devils also recruited the 18-year-old Ayden Heaven of Premier League-Rivalen Arsenal in a movement that could pay for dividends along the line.
And there is still time for United to reach more for the deadline of Monday evening, not exactly planning with the first half of the season. Amorim's silk remains connected to strikers that can offer Rasmus Hojlund competition, while a replacement of Marcus Rashford could be on the cards after he came on loan at Aston Villa.
However, if you arrive in Old Trafford, you have to follow a number of great examples about the previous January exploits of United. And Mirror Sport splits some of the best additions of the middle season of the years of the years.
Nemanja Vidic
Undoubtedly one of the best January signs sessions in the Premier League history, Nemanja Vidic aimed with darkness in Spartak Moscow and became one of the best defenders who has ever seen the English top flight. The Serbian signed for only £ 7 million in January 2005 and won his first trophy with United after just over a month, with Wigan Athletic defeating to lift the competition cup of that season.
Vidic then won 15 trophies at Old Trafford, including five Premier League titles and the Champions League 2008. And Sir Alex Ferguson has not saved any costs when he underlined how reliable he considered the player, whose defensive collaboration with Rio Ferdinand went into club history.
“I always said that Denis Irwin would give us eight or nine out of 10 every week, but he never received a mention when the praise was published,” the Scot said in 2009. “We all knew the value of him, and the Is almost the same with Vidic.
Paul Scholes
There is hardly a United fan that does not keep a club icon Paul Scholes in the highest greetings. But it is easy to forget that he has the rare distinction to be a man of one club who technically came to his outfit more than once.
Scholes was 36 when he announced his first pension as a player in the summer of 2011. But Ferguson thought his midfield pendel had more to offer – and he was right.
De Ginger's magician again signed halfway through the 2011/12 campaign and scored four league goals in the second half of that season – most he succeeded since 2006/07. United just missed the title when the city famous the crown on goal difference, and although Scholes believes it was a mistake, he continued to collect his 11th and last Premier League title in 2013.
Bruno Fernandes
The only member of this list still on the books in United, Bruno Fernandes ignored interest from other European big guns to sign in January 2020. And the former sporty CP playmaker has succeeded in lifting the standards in the Theater van Dreams, just like he did in Lisbon.
Some will say that the jury is still out whether Fernandes has justified the first £ 47 million to be paid for his services, given a FA cup and competition everything they have canceled in the five years since he arrived. His 88 goals and 77 assists in 268 performances for United (more than one target contribution every other competition) and the fact that he was made in 2023 captain speaks volumes of his work.
Patrice Evra
Fan favorites are not much loved than Patrice Evra, who supposedly cut off Arsenal, Liverpool and Real Madrid to become a member of United. Five Premier League titles, one Champions League -Kroon and 379 performances later, the Frenchman had secured his place as an old Trafford icon.
Ferguson moved to Evra in January 2006 because of an injury crisis in the defense at that time, but his arrival of £ 5.5 million soon seemed like a bargain. Evra quickly drove Gabriel Heinze from the left place and was mentioned three times in the Premier League team of the season.
Louis Saha
United Legend Ferguson was in the habit of taking the most reliable scorers from the Premier League out of their competition, and the arrival of Louis Saha in January 2004 was an example of that. The Frenchman had taken 15 goals for Fulham in the first half of that season and came in to work out the frontlinic power of United.
Saha's time at Old Trafford was marred by injuries, but he nevertheless took a considerable return of 42 goals and 16 assists in 124 performances for United. One of Wayne Rooney's favorite strike partners, he gave United what was asked of him when Fit and took two Premier League crowns, one competition cup and a medal for the Champions League winners for problems.
