Man Utd ‘ready’ to trigger release clause for transfer after Andre Onana injury

In the last injury of Manchester United, she was able to quickly move on the transfer market because they were already a new keeper to add to the Ruben Amorim team

Manchester United is ready to make an offer for goalkeeper John Victor and the timing cannot be better after Andre Onana's hamstring injury. The Red Devils No.1 now seems to miss the start of the campaign for the club's season.

The side of Ruben Amorim is linked to the signing of a goalkeeper this summer in the midst of inconsistencies in Onana's versions, and uncertainty about backup option Altay Bayindir. But the requirement for a new keeper may have accelerated after the injury has been hit.

United Fear Onana will be out of operation for six to eight weeks and therefore the risk is not available for the opening Premier League match against Arsenal on August 17. The Cameroon International is ready to travel during the club's tour through the United States, but will not play.

United is already linked to a whole series of keepers this summer. Aston Villa star EMI Martinez, Porto Ace Diogo Costa and Cruz Azul number one Kevin Mier are all linked.

But Botafogo Stopper Victor has emerged as a target that would not reach the same weight of transfer costs. Reports in Brazil claim that United is now ready to move for the goalkeeper and have told BotaFogo that they are willing to activate the release clause of R $ 44.5 million of the player (£ 6 million).

Victor played a leading role for the Brazilian side at the Club World Cup and would have been the subject of an investigation and a number of meetings. And United now seem ready to show an offer for the 29-year-old.

Last year Victor's agent Pedro Gutierrez said there was already interest that started to grow in his client. He said: “I have had many phone calls from clubs in Europe that questions about John and that is no surprise after what he has achieved with Botafogo.

“There has been interest in clubs in England, Germany, Portugal and elsewhere, but John would rather play in the best competition in the world – the Premier League. Liverpool and Manchester City have both Brazilian keepers in Alisson and Ederson and they are both successful in England.

“John wants the chance to pursue those two and to become the newest Brazilian keeper to show his talents in the Premier League”.

The friendly matches of United will start on July 19 when they play Leeds United in Sweden. Te Club continues with West AM, Bournemout and Evertono in Tes.
