Amad Diallo and Matthijs de Ligt have returned to training in a large boost for Manchester United prior to their seasonal Europa League semi-final against Atletico Bilbao.
The Red Devils have been without Diallo since he sustained an ankle injury in February. Initially it was feared that the issue would rule the 22-year-old for the rest of the season.
After a quick recovery, however, the attacker could still play a role in the conclusion of the United season, because they offer to win the Europa League and claim a Champions League spot.
The men of Ruben Amorim travel to San Mames to hire Bilbao this week in the hope of returning for the showpiece in less than a month. On Wednesday, the club also received good news on the return of De Ligt's to training after its ankle problems.
The Dutchman has been out since the beginning of the month after collecting the injury in the defeat by Nottingham Forest. Amorim revealed that the defender is 'close by' to return and could appear against Bilboa on Thursday.
It is unlikely that Amad will be retrained on 8 May on May 8 for the bone, but can return to Old Trafford when United Bilbao welcomes.
The upcoming return of Diallo and De Ligt comes as welcome news given the injury to the always present Diogo Dalot. The Portuguese missed the weekend draw against Bournemouth with a calf number and are confronted with a race by the time to meet this season.
“Diogo Dalot is out,” Amorim said at his press conference on Friday. “We don't know how long he will be gone. But he is out for these next games. We will look until the end.
'There is that possibility [he could miss the rest of the season] But I don't know, we will check week after week. '
The hope of United to save something from their miserable season is in the Europa League, which could also provide qualification for the Champions League and a much -needed cash injection.
The Red Devils earned a late draw against ten-man Bournemouth on Sunday, which saw them in centimeters at 40 points. The matte count represents the lowest of the club in this phase of a Premier League season.
