Manchester United reportedly sent scouts to look at the sporty Lisbon star Geovany Quenda prior to a potential summer movement for the Wonderkid.
The Red Devils have been associated with a movement for the highly rated 17-year-old since Ruben Amorim left to join the Red Devils.
Amorim is planning to put his mark on the side since he handed over the reins and Quenda has been a name that had been circulating the club for a while.
Reports previously claimed that United had agreed a £ 50 million deal with the Portuguese side to sign Quenda, but nothing has been officially confirmed.
Now, according to Record, United Scouts has sent to view Quenda and were in the stands as the winger for Sporting's collision against Porto on Friday.
The outlet further claims that the Red Devils will continue to judge Quenda on Tuesday evening when they are opposed to Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League.
After having spent time in the Youth Academy of Rivals' Benfica, Quenda will enter Sporting at Sporting at the age of 13.
Amorim immediately reserved Quenda for his potential, and he became the youngest player ever who represents the reserve team of Sporting at the age of 16.
At the start of the current campaign, Quenda was integrated into the first team of Sporting, where Amorim was enthusiastic about his performance on the right wing after having made an impression in a pre-season-friendly.
“He is very talented, very mature and understands the game as an adult,” Amorim told Sporting TV in July.
“He clearly has much to improve, but I think he had an excellent game and we have a player there.”
Quenda was born in Guinea-Bissau and chose to represent Portugal internationally and has included internationally to both U17 and U21-Lijdtijdag groups.
In August, Portugal boss Roberto Martinez Quenda handed over his first senior call-up for Nations League collisions with Croatia and Scotland, although he could not be seen in any of the two games.
United is currently 13th in the table after a mixed start of Amorim's regime at the club.
