Napoli are preparing a move for Manchester United star Alejandro Garnacho ahead of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia's departure from the club.
The Liverpool target, who looks set to head to Paris Saint-Germain this month, told Antonio Conte he wants to leave Serie A. The Italian said he will not stand in his way.
“[Kvaratskhelia] asked the club to be sold,” Conte said on Saturday. “I am disappointed. It was a bolt from the blue. I don't want him to think I've chained him here… We're losing an important player.”
However, Conte has already found the player he wants to replace, Napoli's talisman. And Garnacho could be for sale.
It has emerged that the 20-year-old is no longer considered untouchable and United are willing to do a deal if an offer comes in at the right price. An offer worth €50 million could prove sufficient after Conte identified his favorite target and United set an asking price, according to Sport Italia.
Garnacho has found a difficult start under Ruben Amorim. The youngster has been named as one of the substitutes in the Red Devils' last five matches, as well as being left out of the squad for the win over Manchester City in December.
The winger would offer United the opportunity to rake in pure profit in terms of profit and sustainability rules. Garnacho joined the club's academy as a 16-year-old from Atletico Madrid.
United boss Amorim has previously suggested he is keen to retain the services of players such as Garnacho and Kobbia Mainoo, whose futures also appear in doubt. “I really love my players. I want to keep my players, especially the talented ones,” he said.
“It's a special moment at this club, it's a difficult moment, but of course I'm very happy with Kobbie, he's improving, and also with Garna. Our idea is always to keep the best players and the players we build .” for this club.
“We know the position the club is in at the moment, but we'll see. I'm very happy, I love our players, especially the boys from our youth academy.”
Paris Saint-Germain are said to be potential suitors for Garnacho after monitoring his situation in recent months. The Ligue 1 side's interests have not progressed yet, but it appears their move for Kvaratskhelia could lead to a transfer.
Despite the speculation, Amorim included Garnacho in his starting line-up to face Arsenal in the FA Cup third round on Sunday. The United boss included the Napoli target in a strong starting XI to take on the Gunners.
