Man Utd struggling to sell Ten Hag signing after five-word dig at Ruben Amorim

According to Spiegeljournalist Scott Trotter, Manchester United wants to sell left back Tyrell Malacia this summer.

United hopes to load Malacia as part of their broader plan to sell several players to collect funds. However, the deal can be difficult to perform.

The 25-year-old was the first signing of the Erik ten Hag era. He made 39 performances in his debut season, but missed the whole of the next campaign due to an injury and failed to make a single appearance. Before a short spell on PSV last season, he played in just three Premier League matches.

United's ability to strengthen the team under manager Rúben Amorim can depend on how much they can earn back through sale. After the arrival in January of the Danish left back Dorgu, Malacia is even further due to the pecking order.

After he arrived at PSV in January, Malacia seemed to take a subtle excavation at Amorim in the midst of United's struggles and expressed his relief to play pleasant football again:

“I'm happy to be here,” he said. “Finally I can play good football again. I have just returned from an injury in the long term, but I am now completely fit and I know my time will come again.

“Every difficult period has its positive points. For me it became physically and mentally stronger. I am now more patient, more mature, and I understand my body better. I am ready to give everything and hopefully to win some trophies with PSV.”

Earlier this year, Malacia came close to Benfica, but the deal fell because the two clubs could not agree on a loan costs or a purchase option. Although a move still seems likely, his future remains uncertain.
