Man Utd target EPL star wanted by Liverpool as Ruben Amorim’s first signing
Manchester United and Liverpool have both 'investigated' Bournemouth defender Milos Kerkez.
The Cherries have been on an upward trajectory since appointing Andoni Iraola as head coach last summer and are looking to build on their best-ever 12th-place finish in the Premier League last season.
Iraola's men have continued in that style this season and have already claimed the scalps of Arsenal and Manchester City. But the former of some of their star players, including Kerkez, has not gone unnoticed.
Kerkez has impressed since moving to Bournemouth in July 2023 and the Hungary international, 21, is now being eyed by some of the league's top clubs.
A new report from Relevo reveals that both United and Liverpool are interested in the left-back, who cost the Cherries just £15.5million. And while no figure is mentioned in the report, it is likely that Bournemouth would demand a much larger fee for a player who is nowhere near his prime.
Manchester United have been forced to play Diogo Dalot, a right-back by trade, on the left this season due to injuries to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia, the latter of whom is now back in the starting line-up after 17 months away. injury discharge.
And Liverpool are reported to be looking for a long-term successor to Andy Robertson, who has struggled to find his best form this season.
The Red Devils have also been linked with Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies as they plan for their first transfer window under new head coach Ruben Amorim.
It remains to be seen whether the former Sporting Lisbon coach will be given money to spend in January after succeeding Erik ten Hag. But whether it's the winter transfer window or next summer, Kerkez is very much the type of profile United's powerbrokers will want to look for in the future.
Kerkez impressed in Bournemouth's recent win over City and was singled out by Iraola after the match after assisting both of the team's goals.
He said: “For me it is very important how he finished the match because we often had to come on for him because he didn't finish with the same energy. I think he adds these little things to his game to finish strong. do your job defensively, suffer even when you are tired and the team needs you there.”
