Man Utd to launch opening offer for summer transfer target after opening talks

Manchester United has a number of goals in their eyes while trying to add to Ruben Amorim's team and it seems that they have decided to finally show an offer for one

Manchester United will launch their opening offer on Botafogo star John Victor while looking for a new goalkeeper. A recurrence between the sticks was expected this summer, with the future of Andre Onana who looked uncertain.

Since his arrival from Italy, the former Inter Milan -man has endured an inconsistent enchantment at Old Trafford. It has been suggested that the Red Devils are open to let Onana leave on loan this summer.

And a few potential replacements have already been recommended for him. Aston Villa star EMI Martinez is expected to be at the top of their list, while Porto Star Diogo Costa and Cruz Azul number one Kevin Mier are also linked.

In the meantime, Botafogo Stopper John Victor emerged as a potential target after his leading role for the Brazilian side at the Club World Cup. It now seems that United is ready to make a tangible move.

According to Goal Brazil, United has already investigated Botafogo and after a few meetings they are ready to submit an official offer. Victor would certainly be a more affordable option for the Red Devils, since he has a release clause of £ 5.8 million in his contract with his current club.

Last year Victor's agent Pedro Gutierrez said there was a growing interest for the goalkeeper. He said: “I have had many phone calls from clubs in Europe that questions about John and that is no surprise after what he has achieved with Botafogo.

“There has been interest in clubs in England, Germany, Portugal and elsewhere, but John would rather play in the best competition in the world – the Premier League. Liverpool and Manchester City have both Brazilian keepers in Alisson and Ederson and they are both successful in England.

“John wants the chance to pursue those two and to become the newest Brazilian keeper to show his talents in the Premier League”.

A possible movement for Victor comes only a few weeks after Onana has not committed his future to the Red Devils. Asked if he would stay in Old Trafford this summer, he replied: “Shall I leave? I don't know, we'll see!”

In the meantime, alternative goal EMI Martinez also made some meaningful comments about his own dedication to Aston Villa. In the summer he said: “My future? I don't know, I come here to play for the national team, and that's all that is important now,” said Martinez. “Do I want to move to a new club? The transfer window has just opened, so there is still a long way to go.”
