Jadon Sancho has an option to return to Manchester United at the end of the season and a former player believes that Chelsea is permanently for £ 25 million this summer for £ 25 million
Ex-manchester United goalkeeper Ben Foster has made doubts about Chelsea's intention to make Jadon Sancho the move permanent. Last August, the winger was on loan to Chelsea on the Deadline Day, then it was said that the deal should require them to buy Sancho for £ 25 million this summer.
The agreement was supposed to be dependent on the condition that the side of Enzo Maresca ended 14th or higher this season in the Premier League. Currently positioned in fourth place, Chelsea certainly seems to be getting trigger, but recent reports suggest that they can unsubscribe by paying a compensation of United £ 5 million instead.
Former Red Devils Keeper Foster, who played in Old Trafford from 2005 to 2010, suspects that Chelsea will pay the lesser compensation and avoids to accept a player who did not have the best season at Stamford Bridge. He also expressed his opinion that Sancho's wage could be the biggest problem that prevents his departure from United.
“I would be very surprised if Chelsea would take that option (to buy it) and paid the money,” Foster said on his Fozcast -Podcast. “He's okay this season, but Jadon Sancho has not torn trees. If he has torn trees, £ 25 million is a cut in the current market.
“But I think he started 17 games for Chelsea in the Premier League this season and only received two goals and four assists. It's not what you want and it's really not enough. He will probably go back to Man United and Chelsea will have to pay £ 5 million to send a player back.
“The problem is that the wages apparently are £ 200,000 a week, so he goes back to Manchester United, and he will probably do something similar to what he has done at Chelsea. He starts with the games and he will do well, but it will not be enough.”
In the meantime, this week, the Chelsea head coach has triggered discussions about the performance of Sancho. Maresca focused on Wednesday morning and commented on the situation after being questioned about any advice he could have for the attacker.
He said: “No, but to be honest, you probably have more news than me, in terms of Jadon. For me, the situation of Jadon does not change; it is exactly the same. In terms of figures he could undoubtedly do better, but it is not just about Jadon; I think we have more players in the same situation.
“Now I don't have to give Jadon because I speak to Jadon every day. I had a conversation with him yesterday. He just has to keep giving his best until the end, and this is what we want from Jadon.”
In the meantime, it has been reported that Chelsea will take their time to assess the future of Sancho, despite the increasing speculation that he could return to United. The player himself is not going to go back to Old Trafford and is supposed to be happy at Stamford Bridge.
United currently pays a considerable part of its wages of £ 250,000 a week. The prospect of Chelsea who pays the termination costs is far from guaranteed at this stage, since Sancho remains a regular starter under Maresca
Chelsea also negotiated the first agreement with the intention of permanently signing him. There has been no clear indications that they will currently leave the ship, even though they have the option to do this
