Man Utd transfer news: Mainoo issue emerges with Amorim willing to take big loss

Ruben Amorim still wants to sign at least one player at Manchester United before the end of the transfer window after a difficult start of the Premier League season, while haunting his first victory

Manchester United has a little less than a week to complete another transfer that the Ruben Amorim team can stimulate, while they also no longer have time to erase more of their deadwood.

The transfer window swallows closed on 1 September, which does not give United for long to close remaining deals for a new midfielder that Amorim desires.

United has signed three attackers in this window, but now need more steel in the middle of the park, with fans who are not convinced through the collaboration of Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro so far this season.

After they have won any of their opening of two games from the Premier League campaign, it has the need for reinforcements at Old Trafford – but club heads also know that they have to protect outputs to help them balance the books

Mirror Football has taken a look at the biggest news about the transfer of Manchester United while we build up to Deadline Day.

Amorim's three-man midfield wish list

It is clear that Amorim is not happy with his current midfield options after keeping Manuel Ugarte and highly valued younger Kobbie Mainoo on the couch for the first games of the season.

Many saw that if sending a message to the United Board that his options are not good enough and the club is hard at work to add a different quality option that can offer firmness to the midfield of United.

The current options of United for defensive midfielders are Casemiro and Ugarte, in which Amorim Mainoo does not consider a no. 6, but none of them are not considered good enough for a regular starting place.

The club has now reserved three midfield goals for Amorim who can strengthen the side in central areas, according to athletics. These are Carlos Baleba from Brighton, Crystal Palace star Adam Wharton and Sporting Lisbon's Morten Hjulmand.

United was previously in the window in conversation for Baleba and seemed to run away from him after the Seagulls had demanded £ 120 million, although the club might be willing to change their appreciation closer to Deadline Day.

It adds that their interest in Wharton and Hjulmand – who played under Amorim at Lisbon – was not developed at this stage.

Mainoo given transfer setback

As a result of the new midfielder search from United, Mainoo's time could end at Old Trafford after being brutally removed from Amorim's plans.

The 20-year-old was once the radiant light of the club after he was broken into in the team, but his prospects indeed look gloomy if he cannot step into the Amorim team when things stand when the quality in midfield is so bad.

If they sign another midfielder, he would push the Mainoo further into the pecking order and it is now said that he would consider his options.

The problem with Mainoo is that Amorim does not consider him a no. 6, which puts him as competition for Bruno Fernandes instead of Casemiro – which gives Manuel Ugarte opportunities from the bank instead.

Although Mainoo would be open to a united exit, the athletics have reported that there are currently few options on the table for him.

With another week over the window, Mainoo must have an official approach to every club in a big blow to its hope of regularly playing before the World Cup 2026 with England next year.

United set for large loss on Hojlund

A player who seems to be sure to leave Old Trafford in the coming days is out of the grace of Rasmus Hojlund, who closes a move to Napoli.

Multiple reports claim that Napoli is sure that the deal is done before Deadline Day, whereby the player joins a compulsory purchase clause option for about £ 38 million with loan clause.

Hojlund will then receive a contract until 2030 and ends his Nightmare spell at United who has only delivered 14 Premier League goals for two seasons.

However, that final sale would represent a huge loss at the £ 72 million United paid him in 2023 after he had brought him from Atalanta.

Hojlund has scored a total of 26 goals, but has received enormous criticism of his inconsistent displays and the lack of clinical lead.

He will return to Serie A, where he enjoyed success with Atalanta during the 2022-23 campaign.

His future looked bleak when United Benjamin Sesko signed for around £ 74 million, which pushes him further out of the screen in Old Trafford.
