The January transfer window presents a valuable opportunity for Manchester United and Ruben Amorim.
The Red Devils have had a miserable first half of the season and are only seven points ahead of the relegation zone. It won't get any easier either, because a match with fierce rival Liverpool is scheduled for Sunday.
A solution for Amorim and United could be a few additions. A few standout positions in the side require more quality, but it depends on whether the Red Devils can get them through the door.
But there may be some sales before that. Check out all the latest Manchester United transfer news and rumors below:
One man who could leave Old Trafford in the coming weeks is striker Marcus Rashford. Serie A club Napoli are reportedly among his admirers and are said to be willing to offer a stunning loan deal to try to secure his signature.
According to talkSPORT, they would like to offer Victor Osimhen – who is currently in the middle of a loan spell at Galatasaray – to United as a sweetener. The Nigerian has found excellent form in Turkey, scoring fourteen goals in just nineteen games.
Meanwhile, Rashford returned to the United side for the first time against Newcastle, having previously been suspended for four Premier League games. He still has three and a half years left on his contract at Old Trafford.
While Rashford could potentially leave, Ruben Amorim has announced two players will have extended stays at Old Trafford. The Portuguese coach has confirmed that United will activate an option to extend Harry Maguire's contract for another year as Amad approaches a new deal.
Speaking in his pre-Liverpool press conference, Amorim said: “Amad is close, Harry Maguire, we are going to activate our option.
“I spoke to him [Harry] this morning and I told him that he has to improve on the field, we need him badly. He also needs to improve as a leader. We all know the situation he had here, but we really need him right now, so we're going to activate the option for him, thankfully.
Goalkeeper Altay Bayindir could possibly follow Rashford out the door. The Turkish star's agent has confirmed strong interest in his services.
Speaking to Sports Digitale via MEN, Sefa Seyrek said: “Altay had offers from many European clubs and the Premier League at the start of the season. There are currently clubs that are interested, but Altay wants to stay and play for Manchester United. The club absolutely does not want to lose Altay.”
Bayindir, 26, has made just four appearances for United since joining from Fenerbahce in the summer of 2023. He has a contract until 2027.
