Manchester United are still hoping to get some deals done before the January transfer window next week.
Ruben Amorim is said to be 'frustrated' by a lack of progress on new signings as he looks to overhaul his struggling squad and take them up the Premier League. But there is still time for United to bring in reinforcements with the club reportedly in talks to sign Lecce left-back Patrick Dorgu.
There is also growing speculation that both Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho could both leave this month, while Antony will join Real Betis on loan for the remainder of the season.
Mirror Football has rounded up all the latest Manchester United transfer news and rumors as deadline day approaches.
Nkunku and Garnacho could strike a swap deal
Christopher Nkunku is a player Manchester United have been heavily linked with in recent days, with the Chelsea striker regularly struggling under Enzo Maresca.
And with the Blues reportedly interested in United's Alejandro Garnacho – who is in a similar situation at Old Trafford – a stunning swap deal could be on the horizon.
According to ESPN, Garnacho would be in favor of a move to Stamford Bridge if he were forced to leave Old Trafford, with United chiefs said to be open to letting him leave to stay within PSR rules.
It is also reported that Nkunku wants to leave Chelsea this month after making just three Premier League starts under Maresca.
The Italian said: “With Joao and Christo, most managers only play one attacking midfielder. They are top players, I like them both, they are struggling because we usually only play with one attacking midfielder. I'm not saying they will leave.”
Rashford “willing to take pay cut to join Barcelona
Marcus Rashford's future will be discussed until the end of the transfer window as he continues to wait to leave United.
The 27-year-old has not played for United since mid-December before revealing in an impressive interview that he wanted to leave Old Trafford.
The forward has been linked with transfers across Europe, including AC Milan and Barcelona, who are the most likely to sign the England international, if they can find a way to register the player.
Most clubs would struggle to afford Rashford's £325,000-a-week wages, so a loan move is the only way a move could be feasible.
And it is believed Rashford has agreed to take a pay cut to ensure he goes through with a move to Camp Nou, with La Liga in particular facing financial difficulties.
Mundo Deportivo have claimed that Barcelona are exploring ways to sanction a transfer and have tried to offload players, but Rashford is on the verge of a compromise. That would still require United to pay at least half his wages before a deal can be done.
Antony “very happy” after the move from Betis
One player who has left United for a La Liga team is Brazilian winger Antony, who will join Real Betis on loan for the remainder of the season.
The former Ajax star is United's second most expensive player of all time but has failed to live up to expectations following his £85million move in 2022.
The 24-year-old has failed to start a Premier League match this season and Betis have now given him an escape route at United.
Antony has already broken his silence since arriving in Spain ahead of the move, when he expressed his joy at being given a new life.
Speaking to reporters at a Spanish airport, he provided a brief assessment of his thinking ahead of the move. “I'm so happy, I'm ready.”
