Man Utd transfer news: Marcus Rashford makes decision as target enters ‘advanced talks’

Manchester United will wake up this morning with a bounce in their step after a much-improved performance in the draw against Liverpool.

Bruno Fernandes and head coach Ruben Amorim were left a little angry despite a positive performance, but will no doubt be relieved that the Red Devils can still compete with the best. However, the rest of the month may still offer some salvation to overcome the shortcomings.

Marcus Rashford was once again missing from United's squad after rumors of interest from AC Milan. A miss from Rasmus Hojlund could also sharply focus the club's minds on a possible move for a new striker.

There is no shortage of options, although United may still need sales to make any moves in the coming weeks. Mirror Football takes a look at the latest transfer news and rumors surrounding Old Trafford.

Rashford makes transfer decision

Marcus Rashford wants to go to La Liga if possible.

Manchester United have set an asking price of £40million for Rashford, who have ruled out a move to Turkey or Saudi Arabia. However, his £325,000-a-week wages pose a problem for interested parties.

The Daily Mail reports that Rashford would prefer a move to Spain, but this is unlikely to be feasible until the summer, meaning a stalemate could emerge this month. AC Milan are considering a loan offer for Rashford, according to the Mail, but that could offer an alternative route.

Conversations underway

Reports in Nigeria claim that talks have begun over a possible move for striker Victor Osimhen. The star striker missed out on a move to Chelsea last summer and the Nigerian international was eventually loaned out by Napoli to Galatasaray.

According to Business Day, Osimhen is now keen to make the move to Old Trafford. The outlet states that Osimhen has a release clause of €90 million and that it could ask for a smaller fee of €75 million in January to facilitate a transfer.

Cunha in advanced discussions

Matheus Cunha is in advanced talks over a new contract with Wolves, but it may not be all bad news for interested parties.

The Telegraph claims the forward is close to signing a new contract, with the club in 'advanced discussions' with the Brazilian's entourage to secure his future at Molineux. However, the extension will include a release clause that could be triggered if Wolves are relegated

Wolves have spent £44 million to sign Cunha from Atletico Madrid in 2023, and that won't be cheap for interested parties like United or Arsenal. The Midlands side are still just one point clear of the relegation zone, so the possibility of relegation offering an easier route to his signing remains.
