Man Utd transfers: Antony set for exit as ‘serious interest’ in Gittens emerges

Manchester United are looking to strengthen their squad in the January transfer window, but they need to sort out some spending before they can make any new signings.

Marcus Rashford is expected to leave this month amid interest from the likes of AC Milan, Borussia Dortmund and Juventus. Several other players are also said to be nearing departures.

New boss Ruben Amorim still has his feet under the table, but reinforcements are clearly needed if he is to get United back to the top of the Premier League. Here, Mirror Football takes a look at some of the latest transfer news from Old Trafford.

Man Utd want Gittens

According to Sky Germany, the Red Devils are one of several clubs 'seriously interested' in signing Jamie Gittens.

The report claims that Bayern Munich and Chelsea are also eyeing a move for the Borussia Dortmund star. Gittens has impressed for Dortmund this season, with 11 goals and five assists in 26 appearances in all competitions.

It is claimed that the 20-year-old is 'very likely' to leave Dortmund if they fail to qualify for the Champions League. They currently sit tenth in the Bundesliga and are seven points behind the top four.

Betis want Antony

According to Athletic, United are in discussions with Real Betis about a loan transfer for winger Antony.

Antony has struggled since joining United for €84m in 2022 and is yet to make a competitive start under Amorim. The report states that several clubs are interested in the Brazilian, but Betis are 'the furthest advanced at this stage'.

Betis are keen to strengthen following the sale of Assane Diao to Como and United are hopeful that forgoing part of Antony's wages for the remainder of the season will allow them to bring in reinforcements.

Malacia prepared to leave

Tyrell Malacia is also closing in on a move away from Old Trafford, with Voetbal International reporting he will leave on loan.

Malacia has been struggling with injuries since he came over from Feyenoord in 2022. A serious knee problem kept him sidelined for almost a year and a half. The left back returned to action in November and now appears ready for a loan move.

It is claimed that Malacia is close to reaching a deal to join an unnamed club in one of Europe's top leagues, with Amorim endorsing his departure.
