Manchester United has previously tasted rejection in the transfer window, because the plug was once drawn to a potential British record deal, only for the player to get to Old Trafford 12 months later
The Summer Transfer window of Manchester United has been confronted with rejection more than once. However, the Red Devils have previously had many deposits – even in their heyday – such as clearly during the Ruud van Nistelrooy Transfer Saga of 2000.
Ruben Amorim's side needs reinforcements, which has finished this campaign trophy and a low 15th in the Premier League table. Brentford Talisman Bryan Mbeumo is aimed and a deal seemed to be about to be completed before ex-boss Thomas Frank's move to Tottenham Scuppered Proceedings.
It is now suggested that the Danish head coach wants to bring Mbeumo to Noord -Londs with him, and with a superior range of £ 70 million, it will be a loom or would rather stay in the capital or jumping ship for Old Trafford.
One of Amorim's former players, sporty CP -Aas Viktor Gyokeres, was also aimed at this window because the club wants to add potential to their StrikeForce, but suggesting reports from Portugal that he has founded his nose in a reunion in Manchester.
Such dismissal Hares Memories from 25 years ago, when PSV's Ster -striker Van Nistelrooy Leek Leek to complete a step to Sir Alex Ferguson's United, only for medical tests to throw a decisive key. In this case, however, the Red Devils got the last smile.
Van Nistelrooy made light work of the Eredivisie during his Stint with PSV from 1998 to 2000. He scored 77 goals in 90 league matches, won the Dutch Player of the Year Award in all three term and was twice the top scorer of the competition.
It was only a matter of time before the top European parties were sniffing, and Ferguson's United did exactly that, in which the Scottish boss was tipped over by his son and agreed a day after sending scouts to the Netherlands.
A reimbursement of £ 18.5 million was shaken, a potential British record sum, but smashing concern about the then Dutchman of the Dutchman led to the request of extra tests during the medical of Van Nistelrooy.
United wanted to keep the striker in Manchester for extra tests, but the player and his club refused, and quoted that the tests could possibly delay his recovery and the deal was canceled.
“Manchester United is very disappointed that the transfer of Ruud van Nistorelrooy of PSV Eindhoven cannot continue at the moment,” read a statement from the club. “As reported on Tuesday 25 April 2000, further tests were needed for Manchester United to continue with the transfer.
“The discussions that are held between all parties have not reached an agreement with regard to the size of these tests, and as a result of this difference in opinion, we cannot continue at the moment.”
Unfortunately, Ferguson and his team breathed an immediate sigh of relief while, just a week after the deal was folded, Van Nistelrooy sustained a serious knee injury in training that held him out of operation for the year.
Fast forward to 12 months later, Van Nistelrooy put Pen on paper for a British record of £ 19 million deal, and he touched in Manchester to lead the line of the Red Devils. He would play more than 200 games for United and scored no fewer than 150 goals while won a competition title and FA Cup -Kroon.
