Man Utd’s horror season going from bad to worse after Wolves defeat… but stats reveal it could yet be a good omen

The defeat of Manchester United against Wolves earlier today was their 15th of what was a miserable Premier League campaign.

The rotated side of Ruben Amorim was beaten 1-0 thanks to the 77th minute free kick by Pablo Sarabia.

The victory of Wolves saw them draw level on points with the 14th placed man Utd, who are only two above West Ham in the 17th.

The Red Devils have now lost 15 league games in a season for the first time since the 1989-90 season.

In that year, Sir Alex Ferguson 13th came in the first division.

There were repeated calls for Ferguson to be fired by United Chiefs that season.

But in what could be a positive omen for United supporters, it ended in a cup -left victory.

The Red Devils won the 1990 FA Cup, Bryan Robson who hijed the trophy after a 1-0 last repeat victory at Crystal Palace.

The current United Baas Amorim will hope that he can save in the same way this season by winning the Europa League.

In January 1990, the FA Cup winner of Mark Robins in Nottingham Forest was subsequently praised as the “saved” of the track of Ferguson.

Although there is no suggestion that Amorim is under some immediate pressure, the heroic deeds on Thursday evening against Lyon helped the Salvage United season.

The Red Devils stood 4-2 in extra time to the ten men of the Ligue 1-side in Old Trafford.

The 114th minute penalty from Bruno Fernandes gave United Hope, before Kobbie Mainoo brought the draw with a brilliant 120th minute.

In one of the most remarkable moments of Old Trafford in years, Harry Maguire then won it for Amorim's men barely 60 seconds later, so that delirium was fueled in the stands and on the couch.

Man Utd is confronted with Athletic Bilbao, who is organizing the final of next month, in the semi -final of the Europa League.

If they overcome the Basque side, they would meet Tottenham Hotspur or Norwegian Outfit Bodo/Glimt in the final.

Asked for positive points after today's defeat against Wolves, Amorim refused the situation of sugar hunting.

The Portuguese, 40, said: “We tell the fans the truth that we miss many things in our team, that we miss opportunities.

“If we don't score goals, we're not going to win. And we have a lot to do and concentrate on improving the team, step by step, and understand that until the end of the competition [season]It will be that way.

“And then we have to do something.”
