Manchester United has confirmed that defender Lisandro Martinez has sustained an injury to his cruciate ligament.
The defender sustained the injury during the 2-0 Premier League defeat on Sunday against Crystal Palace, the last in a series of problems that hindered him since his arrival in 2022.
A club statement was: “Manchester United can confirm that Lisandro Martinez sustained an injury to his cruciate ligament in Sunday's game against Crystal Palace.
“Assessment of the injury is underway to determine the right treatment course and the time frame for his rehabilitation.
“Everyone at Manchester United wishes Lisandro Martinez strength for a successful recovery and we will support him every step of the road.”
Martinez has played 91 games for United since the signing in 2022 and was the key in their EFL Cup final triumph in the 2022-23 season and their FA Cup final victory in 2023-24.
