Manchester United will run to Benjamin Sesko or Liam Delap in the summer in the summer with a deal for Viktor Gyokeres who are now out of reach.
The Red Devils are expected to dive in the transfer market for a new striker with both Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee – a summer purchases from Bologna – who are struggling for goals this season.
With Ruben Amorim now at the helm, it seemed like a movement for Gyokees, who flourished under the Portuguese coach at Sporting Lisbon, a formality – but a reunion at Old Trafford now looks unlikely.
Van de Zweden International is expected to work out this summer, with the club ready to cash their star. The athletic sketch that Gyokees wants to join a club that can offer him Champions League football next year.
Although United could still be eligible by winning the Europa League, there are also other mitigating factors. Sporting likes to have a reimbursement of approximately € 70 million (£ 58.2 million) for Gyokees, who would be reluctant to lie for a player who will be 27 in June.
A focus on younger goals is likely that Sesko and Delap come into play, with the first a long -term objective. The club even tried to lure him away from RB Leipzig in the summer transfer window, only for the Slovenia International to sign a new deal.
Arsenal is also known as admirers of Sesko and their interest – plus Leipzigs demands for the 21 -year -old – can make a potential deal more complicated for the striker, whose playing style would be a good fit for Amorim's tactics.
A move for Delap, who enjoyed a good season with Ipswich Town after winning promotion of the championship last year, could also fit into the account.
The 22-year-old has nine Premier League goals to his name and fits with the profile that Amorim is looking for. He was followed this season by United and, crucial, is known to technical director Jason Wilcox from his Manchester City Days.
Intriguing enough, Premier League Goalscoring -icon Ian Wright recently insisted on United to make a move for Delap on his podcast, Wrighty's House. He said: “Get Delap. The thing is that he is hungry and lack of respect for everyone and it feels just like the kind of player they need.
“They need such a hero and he is a hero waiting to happen. He is hungry.”
