Manchester United wants to sign at least two attackers in the summer transfer window and help Ruben Amorim to rebuild his team, with Liam Delap as the best goal of the club
Wolves star Matheus Cunha became a member of Liam Delap on the summer list of Manchester United. The Red Devils are considering signing the pair for a combined £ 90 million, while Ruben Amorim wants to strengthen his attack.
United has struggled for goals this season and lent three attackers – Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford and Antony. Senior figures at Old Trafford hope to sell the trio permanently when the summer transfer window is opened and use the money to finance the rebuilding of Amorim.
Ipswich striker Delap has emerged as the best striker of United, while Cunha, 25, is seen as a leading option for one of their No. 10 roles. The Brazilian signed a new contract with Wolves in January, but has already suggested that he is ready to leave because he has been an interest of Arsenal and Nottingham Forest.
The athletic report that United is considering a movement for Cunha, which has a release £ 62.5 million clause. That amount, in combination with the £ 30 million clause from Delap if Ipswich was banned, would be difficult to cough unless people like Sancho, Rashford and Antony are sold.
But if enough funds are collected, United could make an approach for Cunha. The Red Devils also follow alternatives such as RB Leipzig -young Benjamin Sesko and Napoli striker Victor Osimhen.
Cunha came to Wolves from Atletico Madrid in January 2023 and enjoys his most productive season so far. The Brazilian international, who will be 26 in May, has scored 15 goals and registered four assists, which led Wolves's survival fight.
However, his discipline was examined after he has received two red cards this CMPaign. Cunha returns on Sunday from a ban of four games when Wolves Tottenham Host.
The ex-Hertha Berlin Forward said last month that he did not feel 'good' if he had left Wolves in January, but says he “has to take the next step.” Cunha said to the Guardian: “I had many offers, but I wouldn't feel good if I had done it.
Should Manchester United pay £ 62.5 million for Matheus Cunha? Say in the commentary part.
“Some things you can't control, but I couldn't leave the club in the middle of the season, in a difficult situation, in the relegation zone. But I made it clear that I have to take the next step. I want to fight for titles, for big things. I have potential.”
Wolves are on track to survive at the expense of Ipswich, with their approaching relegation set to activate a clause with which Delap could leave for just £ 30 million. The 23-year-old former striker of Manchester City has scored 12 goals in his first season that regularly plays in the Premier League.
