Manchester United star Marcus Rashford was borrowed from Aston Villa in the January transfer star and could have resulted his move in another player who went in the opposite direction
Manchester United had conversations with Aston Villa about a potential Swap deal for Ollie Watkins when Marcus Rashford came to the end of his loan saying. Rashford, 27, spent the second half of last season in Villa Park, after being in favor of Ruben Amorim.
The loan agreement included an option for Villa to sign the United Forward for £ 40 million, but it could have been very different if the exchange with Watkins flourished. The 29-year-old was reportedly available for transfer in January and was even offered to Arsenal.
According to athletics, United discussions with Villa fell about signing Watkins at the end of the season. The Red Devils have now separated a new investigation from Rashford, which Villa did not permanently sign.
Amorim wants to sign a new striker and Watkins has emerged a target, in which Rashford has returned to Old Trafford but does not seem to have a future at United. In the meantime, Villa is currently struggling with the Premier competition gain and sustainability rules and it is claimed that they have to make one lucrative sale to prevent punishment.
It is speculated that Villa Park Chiefs could follow the example of Chelsea and sell their ladies team in what would be a controversial step. The sale of Watkins would also cause protest, in which Villa already left one striker in the transfer window of January before he closely misses the qualification of Champions League.
The side of Unai Emery has sanctioned the departure from Jhon Duran to Saudi-Arab side for a cool £ 65 million. Duran's departure did not mean that Watkins was always the first choice for Emery.
Rashford started both of the quarter-final clashes of Villas Champions League with Paris Saint-Germain, leaving Watkins 'Fuming' behind. “I played for 20 minutes against PSG in both games, so I'm not going to lie – I was smoking that I didn't play,” he told Sky Sports.
“I let him know (Emery). He is the manager at the end of the day. I respect his decision. But I am not one of the players who like to sit on the couch.
Should Aston Villa Ollie Watkins change for Marcus Rashford? Say in the commentary part.
“It is something that I have never experienced before, miss the biggest stage. You always want to play, especially in the Champions League. I and a few others are disappointed that we did not start the game, but as I said, it is the decision of the manager … instead of having it hindered, you have to use that anger as a motivation.”
The international of England would almost certainly start most competitions for the Red Devils, because he has been proven considerably more Premier League compared to United Strikers Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee. Last season Watkins took 17 goals and set on 14 assists.
