Manchester United will not pursue a movement for Aston Villa star Leon Bailey while Marcus Rashford comes in the opposite direction – and instead concentrate on movements for Mathys Tel or Christopher Nunku.
The Red Devils are on the market for an attacker before the Transfer Deadline from January on Monday evening while they look to replace the departing Rashford – who will join Villa for a loan agreement for the rest of the season.
United has already closed a deal for two defenders this month, with a center-back Ayden Heaven that arrives from Arsenal on Saturday and Lecce left back Patrick Dorgu who comes the next day to strengthen the backline.
But with Forward's Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee both out of the form, Boss Ruben Amorim will gladly add some firepower to his team to set up the rise of United.
Recent reports claimed that Bailey – who has one goal and two assists for Villa this season – was considered a potential option near United after he had also sent Antony on loan to Real Betis. But according to the men, United focuses on players who can play through the middle instead of Widemen.
Amorim's 3-4-3 system means that Noussair Mazraoui and Diogo Dalot can play as wingbacks, so that players such as Bruno Fernandes, Amad Diallo, Zirzkee and Hojlund can continue to play ahead while they still retain wide.
It says that Tel and Nunku are two players who were identified before Deadline Day, after their clubs Bayern Munich and Chelsea had made them available for an exit.
Tel has been put aside this season by Bayern Munich -Baas Vincent Kompany after he has only made two starts in the Bundesliga, but his future is still in the air after rejecting a move to Tottenham.
Nunku has meanwhile managed to score 13 goals in all the competitions for Chelsea, despite the fact that he is the pecking order under Baas Enzo Maresca.
The last deal through the door at United was Dorgu, who revealed his pride that he came to the Red Devils on Sunday. He said: “I am incredibly proud to be able to call myself a player from Manchester United; this is a very special day for my whole family.
“I can't wait to work with Ruben Amorim; his vision for this team and the future of the club is incredibly exciting. There is a clear plan for my development, and I feel that Manchester United is the perfect place to my potential to fulfill and complete my enormous ambitions “
