Manchester City confirm Pep Guardiola contract extension
Pep Guardiola's future as Manchester City's head coach has sparked much speculation in recent months. Having played for the reigning Premier League champions since 2016, it was at one point strongly expected that he would leave at the end of the season when his contract expired. However, this will not be the case.
Earlier this week it was reported that Guardiola had agreed a new contract with Man City, and the news was confirmed by the club on Thursday.
Guardiola's new contract only runs until 2026, but does include the option to extend for a further twelve months. It also means his tenure at the Etihad Stadium will ultimately last at least a decade.
This news is absolutely fantastic for Man City, who have retained the services of one of the best managers in world football. It remains to be seen how much more success Guardiola can lead The Cityzens to before he ultimately walks away.
