Manchester City star Akanji offers himself to Real Madrid

There are no shortage of players who would like to sign for Real Madrid, and not few agents also want to bring their customers to the Santiago Bernabeu. This results in Los Blancos that receives many offers from willing football players, although rarely from their rivals for top prices.

Yet that is the case with Manuel Akanji. The Swiss defender has spent a large part of the last few seasons with competition against Real Madrid to lift the Champions League, but Marca explains that Akanji has offered himself an option for Real Madrid this summer. City manager Pep Guardiola is planning a revision of the team in the summer, and Akanji believes it is time for a new challenge and is therefore looking for his next club.

However, the Madrid established daily explains that Los Blancos does not intend to move to Akanji. In the past two seasons, Real Madrid has sustained considerably with injuries in their backline with serious knee problems that affect Dani Carvajal, David Alaba and Eder Militao. They also tried to sign central defender Leny Yoro last summer, and they were only injuries that this season led to the rise of Raul Asencio.

Nevertheless, Akanji does not fit in with Los Blancos's signing policy. Although he is versatile, with two years on his contract, he will not be free. Real Madrid has a point to only spend money on young players, instead to recruit players as free agents. At the age of 29, Akanji is very last.

That offer comes at the same time as many admiring looks, the way of Bournemouth -defender Dean Huijsen directed, with a number of clubs interested in activating his release clause of € 60 million this summer, including Real Madrid.
