Manchester City stonewalled in efforts to sign Barcelona superstar

Because of their financial misery, there are opportunities for Barcelona to sell important players this summer – and Manchester City hopes to benefit from it after interest in one of the most important stars of the Catalan club: Pedri.

It has been an excellent season of Pedri, who has his injury problems behind him to become one of the best midfielders in the world. His versions for Barcelona have been spectacular and they have led him to be considered a serious competition to win the Ballon d'Or from 2025.

By the time the ceremony walks around later in the year, there is a chance that Pedri is no longer a Barcelona, although it is a very slim. That is because Man City has shown interest in signing the 22-year-old this summer, as reported by Football Insider.

However, the report also stated that Barcelona Man City has made it clear that Pedri is not allowed to leave – and as such, no negotiations will be held between the two clubs. As such, the Premier League side will only be able to sign the Spain International if they activate his release clause – given that it is at € 1 billion, it would be a big surprise if they did.

In January Barcelona Pedri tied a new five -year contract and repeated their faith in him. He is also considered one of the pillars of the current project led by Hansi Flick.

It makes perfect sense for Barcelona to ward off any interest in Pedri, because he is clearly one of their best and more important players. They will hope that he will stay in Catalonia for many years, and all signs indicate that this is the case.
