Christopher Nkunku has emerged as a potential target for Manchester United in this period as Chelsea consider making a move for United striker Alejandro Garnacho.
It is believed that discussions have taken place between intermediaries over a possible move to Old Trafford for Nkunku.
Chelsea do not want to sell Nkunku but it is thought they could be tempted to do business for £70m.
He is a player United are considering, but it is unlikely they will reach that £70m figure.
Bayern Munich are trying to sign the player but have been unable to agree a deal.
Nkunku would be more likely to move to Bayern if their striker Mathys Tel were willing to go the opposite direction in a separate deal.
Chelsea have effectively had two different starting XIs this season: one for the league, and one for Europe and the cup competitions.
Nkunku has scored no fewer than eleven goals in ten European and cup matches this season. But he has scored just two goals in 18 Premier League games, although only three of those appearances have been starts.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are also considering a move for United striker Alejandro Garnacho.
United are considering options in attacking areas and what is feasible during this period given their financial constraints.
Much will depend on what happens with Garnacho and Marcus Rashford, as Antony's move to Real Betis should be completed this weekend.
They don't want to be short on offense, but they can't afford to be overmanned either.
Amorim speaks about the future of Garnacho
Ruben Amorim spoke about Garnacho's future amid continued interest from Chelsea in the January transfer window.
Garnacho played the full 90 minutes of Man Utd's late 2-1 win over Rangers in the Europa League on Thursday and was one of their best players as one of five substitutes after Sunday's miserable defeat to Brighton.
After the match, Amorim was not said to be drawn one way or the other on whether Garnacho will remain at Old Trafford beyond the end of this month, but he praised his improvement since dropping the winger for poor performances ahead of the derby of Manchester, just over a month. past.
“He plays for Manchester United,” he said when asked if he might have played his last game for the club. “He was very important for us today. Let's see in the coming days.
“I think he's improving in every aspect of the game. He was better today both inside and outside, switching positions. He's improving the recovery position. You can see it.”
“Throughout the entire 90 minutes he is always there to recover and help. Sometimes showing some frustration is a good thing because he wants more.”
Amorim also set a challenge for the 20-year-old to improve, adding: “I think he has the potential to be so much better in every situation of the game.
“What I can say is that he understood what I was trying to do and he was very clear. I just want to help him. Ultimately it is the players who do the work.”
Antony ready for Real Betis Medical
Manchester United have given Antony permission to travel to Seville for medical treatment at Real Betis.
This concerns a loan for the remainder of the season, with the club receiving back at least 84 percent of his salary plus bonuses.
Depending on individual and team performances, United could ultimately make a profit on Antony's wages, just as they did with Jadon Sancho when he was loaned to Borussia Dortmund last season.
Antony was signed from Ajax in the summer of 2022 for around £85 million.
His contract expires in 2027 and includes the club option for another year.
Antony has been in every side under Ruben Amorim bar one but is yet to start a Premier League game this season.
United want him to play regularly in the first team before reassessing his future in the summer.
What does Antony's departure mean for Man Utd in the transfer market?
Manchester United's pursuit of a left back does not depend on transfers in this transfer window.
As Sky Sports News reported on Amorim's appointment, the left wing-back was circled as the priority position. This was the only transfer most likely to take place during this period, regardless of the club's situation.
Discussions have been held over Patrick Dorgu, with Lecce expecting an offer from United.
Meanwhile, the club is also exploring a range of other options in different positions depending on spending.
Garnacho is attracting interest from Napoli and Chelsea, while Rashford said he wants a new challenge before this transfer window.
Rashford's preference is Barcelona, although his hopes of a move to the Spanish club are diminishing by the day. Borussia Dormtund has also inquired about the terms of a loan.
