Manchester United wants to keep a defender away from under the nose of Barcelona and Real Madrid, according to reports that come from Germany.
The future of Jonathan Tah must be decided in the coming weeks. The Germany International has already indicated its intention to leave Bayer Leverkusen when his contract ends on June 30, which means that he will go to new meadows. And at this stage some of the largest clubs in Europe compete for his signature.
Barcelona is responsible for Tah for most of the season, because they want to strengthen their options in the center of defense. But although they are considered favorites to add him to the team before the start of the 2025-26 campaign, they are confronted with a very serious competition.
Real Madrid has become a member of the race for Tah in recent weeks, because they want to tackle their defensive problems, and Bayern Munich are also interested. But all three clubs can be assigned by Man United.
As reported by Florian Plettenburg, Man United is the newest club that has a strong interest in signing Tah when his Leverkusen contract ends.
“Manchester United has entered the race for Jonathan #tah and wants to sign the 29-yy/O-center-back this summer during a free transfer. Conversations with his management have taken place. Tah has still not signed with FC Barcelona but Barca absolutely wants him. FC Bayern and Real Madrid.”
Barcelona still seems to be favorites at this stage, but there is no clear consensus for a movement. The defender may not be necessary unless Andreas Christensen or Ronald Araujo would leave this summer, and none of these scenarios is guaranteed.
