For a long time it seemed intended that Carlo Ancelotti, with Real Madrid who wants to continue, would take the reins in Brazil, after a second long -term striving for the Italian coach. He will take over the Brazilian national team after his last LA Liga obligation with Real Madrid on 25 May, as announced by the Confederation of Brazilian football (CBF) on Monday.
The green light of Ancelotti, however, only arrived in the last 48 hours, after Real Madrid saw their title slipping away against Barcelona on Sunday in a 4-3 Clasico defeat. Ancelotti has now signed an annual deal until the end of the 2026 World Cup, with an option to extend his contract to the 2030 competition in Spain, Morocco and Portugal.
According to Marca, Manchester United -midfielder Casemiro played a role in him that took the track in Brazil. The Brazilian midfielder, who was set up for a recall from the national team after he had fallen by Dorival Junior, was called by Ancelotti in search of advice. The Spanish newspaper explains that the two had spoken on different occasions since Casemiro left Real Madrid, but Ancelotti called Casiro and asked what he thought of the idea that he took over the Selecao.
Ancelotti left the conversation more convinced by the idea and illuminated his whining with the idea. Moreover, it is added that Ancelotti will still have a backer in Neymar Junior, who will also return to him. Another United player, on loan at Real Betis, is set for a recall in the form of Antony.
While Julen Lopetegui was planning to go to the World Cup with Spain and return as Real Madrid manager, few coaches have taken the leadership of competitions in the Santiago Bernabeu who was announced elsewhere as a coach. It will be interesting to see the reaction of the Bernabeu to the most successful manager in their history, now fall apart after a disappointing year.
