In recent days, Sevilla have confirmed that they have severed institutional ties with bitter rivals Real Betis after a complaint from the latter saw that Los Nervionenses three players were short in the 1-0 win over Celta Vigo last weekend due to suspension. However, there is still a small thread between the two clubs for the time being.
That thread is about Jesus Navas, who will retire from professional football after Sunday's match against Real Madrid. Sevilla will host a farewell ceremony for the veteran defender on December 30, and according to MD, Betis head coach Manuel Pellegrini and director Joaquin Sánchez will still attend despite the possibility of a situation between the clubs.
The reason for this is Navas himself, as he personally requested that Pellegrini and Joaquin, with whom he has a very close relationship, be present. As such, it has nothing to do with Sevilla or Betis.
