Marcus Rashford has been labeled as 'scared average', with Premier League clubs warned against signing him from Manchester United.
Rashford has been banned by boss Ruben Amorim, with the striker missing from United's squad for five of the last six games. United are open to offers for £40m-rated Rashford in this month's transfer window, although a loan move seems the most likely option.
AC Milan, Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain have all been linked with a move for Rashford, as have United's Premier League rivals Tottenham. But former Spurs and England winger Chris Waddle has issued a scathing assessment of 27-year-old Rashford and warned his old club against making a move in his place.
“There are a lot of mind games going on with Marcus Rashford,” Waddle told Prime Casino. “I think there are a lot of doubts about his desire, his passion and his ambition.
“If he went to Tottenham and the fans were singing his name, would he be happy about that and think: 'That's it, I've arrived, I don't have to do that anymore.'
“Whoever gets him, they get a player for six months. Can he maintain that appetite and hunger afterward? Can he prove to everyone that he should be playing on the left wing for England? To do that, he has to play for his club week in, week out.
'What is he doing right now? They said he was ill during the Liverpool match, not in the squad. No disrespect, but he's not young anymore. People keep talking like he's 21. He's not.
“He has had a career inside and out. He had that season where he scored a lot of goals, but that's becoming a distant memory. He's been average ever since.
“We all know he has talent, but we've seen this story before with so many players. Players like Dele Alli and Ross Barkley come on the scene, burn bright and then disappear.
“Both players were considered world beaters when they were younger and they couldn't do that over the course of their careers. There are so many players who were tipped to be the next big thing, and for them it didn't happen. The only person who can change it is Marcus.”
Waddle said Rashford, who has lost his place at both England and United, must act as soon as possible to revive his stalled career.
“I expect him to move on,” Waddle told Prime Casino. “He has to leave Manchester United. Whether it's a loan until the end of the season, or a permanent loan, he has to think to himself: 'I have to leave'. I'm wasting my time, I have to to get into the England squad, I have to play and I want to show everyone how good I can be.'”
