Marcus Rashford in agreement with Roy Keane over next move for his career

Marcus Rashford agrees with Manchester United legend Roy Keane that his future lies abroad.

The 27-year-old Rashford revealed in an impressive interview last week that after twenty years at the club he is ready for a new challenge away from United. His shocking comments came after he was left out of the Red Devils' squad for their 2-1 win over Manchester City due to his poor attitude in training.

The Wantaway striker was left out of defeats to Tottenham in the Carabao Cup and Bournemouth in the Premier League last week, although Amorim insists he wants to keep Rashford for now. And after a difficult 18 months, both professionally and personally, former captain Keane claimed Rashford can rediscover his form by joining a new club away from the pressure and focus of English football.

Speaking on The Overlap's Stick to Football podcast, presented by Sky Bet, pundit Keane said: “I don't really care what he said, even if it's a bit long, but it's spot on.

“Sometimes a deal just works for everyone. It's been going for a year or two now, there's clearly some talent there and he's been at the club since he was a kid. A change would probably do him a lot of good.” for him and his team and family to go abroad.”

Rashford has massively underperformed since signing a £325,000-a-week contract last year, making him the club's highest-paid player. With Amorim refusing to involve him in recent times and the United Academy graduate's preferences being expressed, an exit seems a logical conclusion to his time at Old Trafford.

It is also believed that the forward wants a move to Europe rather than staying in England or joining a team in Saudi Arabia or the United States. That's because he still has ambitions of being part of Thomas Tuchel's England squad after recently being left out of the Three Lions line-up by Gareth Southgate and Lee Carsley.

Rashford, who was previously linked with PSG following Kylian Mbappe's decision to leave the French champions, is said to be particularly interested in the Spanish La Liga as his next destination. However, Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona are unlikely to make a bid for the out-of-form star, and it is not known that any club has yet made a formal approach for his services.

Atletico Madrid is a possible option, with manager Diego Simeone signing Englishman Conor Gallagher in the summer after Chelsea told the midfielder he was no longer needed. While in the Premier League United would undoubtedly be more reluctant to let Rashford do his job once he leaves, there are reports of some interest from Arsenal.

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is in need of attacking options this January transfer window, given the recent injuries to Rashford's England teammates Bukayo Saka and Raheem Sterling. However, United would demand a huge fee before Rashford would join a rival club.

A permanent deal for Rashford – even next summer – would be difficult given his hefty contract and the £40m demanded by the 13-time Premier League champions. Therefore, there may not be many suitors for such a valuable player who has seven goals to his name this season.
