Marcus Rashford saga takes new twist after Man Utd star’s secret transfer talks

Marcus Rashford has NOT closed the door on playing for Manchester United again despite talks of a move away in January.

The 27-year-old United Academy graduate has not featured for the first team for over a month after Ruben Amorim questioned the player's performance in training.

Rashford then fueled move rumors by admitting he was ready for a new challenge just before Christmas. That admission has sparked interest from a number of major players in Europe and talks have since taken place with numerous suitors over a six-month loan swap.

However, it has now emerged that Rashford has not completely closed the door on playing for United again ahead of their Europa League clash with Rangers this week.

Rashford has even trained extra ahead of the match in case he is called up by Amorim. And it is said he would have no problem playing for the Portuguese coach, who has effectively banned him from the first team.

Rashford has been linked with a host of European elites since confirming in an interview last month that he would be open to a new challenge away from Old Trafford.

AC Milan are among the clubs to have held talks with his representatives over a move, while Borussia Dortmund and Barcelona are also interested in the forward, who has collected 60 caps for England during his career. Camp Nou was indeed seen as his No. 1 choice, but Barcelona's financial problems make a move for the £350,000-a-week forward a non-starter at this point.

It remains to be seen where Rashford will end up if he decides to leave United before the transfer deadline in two weeks, with Milan previously giving him until Monday to decide on a temporary move to Italy.

Rashford was absent again on Sunday as United were defeated 3-1 by Brighton at home. Asked about the final post-match, Amorim said of Rashford: “It's his choice [not to play].

“I don't want to focus on this bad moment because in the games we have lost, Rashford is not there. I don't want to blame this moment on Rashford. Rashford is out of this moment because he is not playing.”

“Whatever happens, I'm not going to take out a player who I don't think is the best for the team.”
