Marcus Rashford has joined Aston Villa on loan from Manchester United until the end of the season.
Sky Sports News understands that Villa will cover at least 75 percent of Rashford's wages and this can go up to 90 percent, depending on the performance of him and the team.
“I want to thank Manchester United and Aston Villa for the event of this loan,” said Rashford.
“I was lucky that a few clubs approached me, but Aston Villa was an easy decision – I really admire the way Aston Villa played this season and the manager's ambitions.
“I just want to play football and I am excited to start. I wish everyone at Manchester United the very best for the rest of the season.”
In response to Rashford's Instagram post, former teammate and friend Jadon Sancho said: “He is back!”
Sky Sports News understands that Villa has made the switch as a result of the sale of Jhon Duran to Al Nassr.
Neville: Villa and Emery are exactly what Rashford needs
Sky Sports' Gary Neville:
“He had to leave the club. He has been battered by his manager in recent weeks. That is the only person who matters in football, your coach, and I think some statements by Ruben Amorim against Marcus Rashford have been brutally saying, explicitly that he doesn't want him.
“There are a number of things that are in his favor at Villa. He is currently going to a much better team, he goes to a coach whose world class, which is a real chance for him.
“It puts the pressure on Marcus to perform for Unai Emery, because if you don't play for him, then you say that Ruben Amorim might be the problem, Erik ten Hag might be the problem. Unai Emery can't be a problem for Rashford. He has to play well for him.
“The other is the playing style. How Villa Play I think Rashford could also fit. Maybe the spotlights will not be completely on him as it was in Manchester United, but there will certainly still be a lot of attention. Being Villa in many matches , they still have a lot to play and it's a real chance for Marcus.
“It absolutely sounds like what he needs. The last thing I would think that Rashford needs right now is someone like I say:” Go and enjoy yourself. “He must have some discipline in his game, he must be coached and he must ensure that the team knows exactly what they want from him.
“Unai Emery will do that, he is an absolutely great coach. It is exactly what Marcus Rashford needs and what he has to do is buy in it.”
Rashford's Turbulente January
Rashford played for the last time for his boys' club during the Europa League trip to Viktoria Plzen.
The International of England revealed in December that he was “ready for a new challenge”, but few clubs offered an obvious landing site, thanks to his wages.
Rashford was omitted from the 21-man team of United for their Europa League victory at FCSB despite the Forward training with his teammates on the eve of the game.
Man Utd boss Ruben Amorim suggested after their victory over Fulham that he would rather have 63-year-old keepers coach in his team than Rashford.
There were reports that Amorim and Rashford were no longer in speaking conditions.
Amorim opened the door for Rashford to fight his way back to the first team that said that United is “a better team with Rashford”, but he “must change” before he could take his way back into the first team.
Will Rashford guaranteed a role in the first team at Villa?
Sky Sports' Patrick Rowe:
“Rashford has played his best football on the left, so this movement comes in an interesting time for Villa, given Jacob Ramsey seems to be recapturing his best shape.
“The 23-year-old scored against West Ham and offered two assists against Celtic. If he maintains this run, there are no guarantees that Rashford will have the starting role he wants at Villa.
“Versatility is seen high by Emery, so playing with Watkins in front or on the right, given the struggles of Leon Bailey, there are also possibilities.
“The other problem is which Rashford Villa will get. Emery has a track record to get the best out of players, so if he could get it close to the player we saw in 2022/23, who scored 17 goals in the Premier League , is it a gamble that is worth taking for Villa.
“But as the Saga with Jhon Duran has shown, Emery has little to no patience for off-the-field antics.”
