Filip Jorgensen starts in the goal for Chelsea in the final of the Conference League against the Spanish side Real Betis, manager Enzo Maresca said Tuesday.
The 23-year-old Swedish-Hanish keeper has started one after one after one in the competition. Spaniard Robert Sanchez is Chelsea's first choice in the Premier League and is playing 31 games this season.
“Filip is going to play the final because he played all the competition. It will now be unfair if he doesn't play the final. Certainly, Filip will play because he deserves to play,” Maresca told reporters.
Strikers Christopher Nunku and Marc Guiu remain doubtful for the confrontation in the Polish city of Wroclaw on 28 May due to injury.
“Guiu and Nunku are in the sessions, but are still not 100%,” said Maresca.
“We try to play our strongest XI for every match. In the Conference League we played with different players and we will see for the final.”
Chelsea, fourth in the Premier League with 66 points, chased their first trophy under Maresca.
The West -London club appointed the Italian in June after he led Leicester City to the English championship title in his first season.
The final is also an opportunity for Chelsea to add a large European trophy to their collection, after they have won the Champions League, Europa League, Cup Winners' Cup and Super Cup all twice every twice.
“The most important goal is to win a European competition with Chelsea. It is important for the club at the moment, for the fans, for everyone, because it means we are going in the right direction,” said Maresca.
