Enzo Maresca says that Chelsea cannot dwell on the victories they have previously thrown away in the Premier League season and now have to embrace their three 'finals' to get into the Champions League, starting with Newcastle.
Maresca's silk to St James' Park for a Sunday 12.00, which will be a way to reveal who will secure a top five finish.
Although Maresca regrets their blip in the second half of the season, including twice failing to beat Ipswich and falls short to Everton, Crystal Palace and others, he insists that it is now in their hands to end strong.
“The frustration is that we had many games where we created enough opportunities to win the game and we didn't do that,” said Maresca.
“But now it's not the time to think about that. This is the time to try to win as much as possible in these last three games and then we will see.
'Even in terms of data, if you see the XG, the opportunities may be missed, I think we can have more points.
“But now it's what it is and we have to win the games we have.
'We have 20 days to prepare for the [Conference League final]. For that we have three Premier League finals. '
Maresca refused to say how many points were needed to ensure that they secure Champions League football, and added: 'We are going to try to win the three games we have.
'How many points do we need to end in the top five? No idea. It depends on the other results.
'We must be aimed at and try to win the three games.
“If it is one or two, we don't know, but the focus is to try to win the three games we have.”
