MARTIN KEOWN TALKS TACTICS: Arsenal’s UCL semi-final is far from over now

During this Champions League campaign, Arsenal has proven that they are formidable opponents and I believe they will do this again on Wednesday evening in Paris Saint-Germain.

This draw is not nearly over yet. Arsenal is down, but not out. PSG Play with a clear plan and a real goal. They always want to attack with a flexibility and freedom of movement that Europe has conquered in Europe.

This is a side that defeated Manchester City after being two goals and then to bring Liverpool and Aston Villa in the last two knockout rounds.

Lionel Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe are three of the best players of their generation, but PSG's new front three by Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Ousmane Dembele and Desire Done works much harder and in Vechting of duels than their predecessors ever did.

They can pop up anywhere in the front line. Kvaratskhelia and Doue will go from the wings to central positions and PSGs Two midfielders, Fabian Ruiz and Joao Neves, will push up to join the front men. Immediately back, Achraf Hakimi is given the license to roam while sprinting along the side, turning to midfield or, occasionally, you may even see him as a striker!

Hakimi is a great force for PSG when he gets ahead, but it will be interesting to see how PSG deals with Myles Lewis-Skelly when he arrives in midfield. Lewis-Skelly more than once passed the defensive lines of PSG in that first leg with great effect.

The French Giants printed aggressively with six players, but lack an out-and-out defensive midfielder, and if Arsenal can play their dedicated press, as they sometimes did last week, they can uncover the home defense and create opportunities.

Arsenal showed early balls played between PSG's central backs and full backs, to feed Leandro Trossard and the Wingers, that they can test goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, who played at a very high level in the first stage.

Arsenal must be much more ruthless than in the last competition and PSG punishes when they get those opportunities. The power of Arsenal is their physicality, especially in midfield.

In the first stage there were a few controversial decisions in which the referee took away every chance of Arsenal who used it to their advantage.

The reintroduction of Thomas Partey should let Declan Rice go back to the left and be more aggressive with his press. The physicality of Pinterey can help to win the fight in midfield.

Arsenal needs more creativity from Martin Odegaard. He is the most technical player of Mikel Arteta and the quality of his death has to return at his best. He is the trigger for the Arsenal press and has to lead with those punishing passes and play with the confidence to ride everyone.

Injuries to important players mean that Arteta does not have the same luxury to turn to his bank that other managers have.

Villa Boss Unai Emery was able to throw Marco Asensio, Ollie Watkins and Jacob Ramsey for the last phases of the second stage against PSG. With regard to the substitutes of Arteta, Ethan Nwaneri is one of the few players to whom he could turn to make a difference in an attacking sense.

Arsenal was stunned in the opening of 20 minutes by PSG, but, while he looked back last week's leg, Arteta's side grew in that first half. They did that by pressing high and fitting early in their broad men.

They can't go to Paris now and sit down from their opponents.

The starters of Arteta have to participate from the start if they want to produce one of the largest European nights in the club.
