Since his debut in the promotion, Ruffy has collected consistent comparisons with Conor McGregor, with fans and experts who claim that he reminds them of a young Conor McGregor.
Responding to the comparisons, the 28-year-old admitted that his style contains some McGregor-like tendencies, because he has always been a fan of the former UFC Double Champion.
“With the construction of Mauricio Ruffy there was always a little bit of Conor McGregor there,” Ruffy told Mmajunkie.
“I am a big Conor McGregor fan, I love the style of McGregor, and there is a bit of McGregor there,” Ruffy continued.
McGregor was notorious of one of the biggest quarrels in combat history with Khabib Nurmagomedov and his team, including Islam Makhachev.
With Ruffy hopeful to obtain a title fight against Makhachev in the non-so distant future, he has expanded an invitation for McGregor and offered him the chance of revenge.
“When I am ready to fight against Islam Makhachev, if I start fighting him, I want to invite Conor McGregor to be in my corner, so we are against the Russians. I want McGregor to be there, I want McGregor to be up close and taste the victory for when I defeat the Russians.
“Khabib will of course be there, so I want McGregor to be there as part of my corner for when I beat them and put an end to Islam Makhachev,” Ruffy continued.
Ruffy hopeful on a last-minute performance on UFC 314 card
After his victory over Green, the 28-year-old is already looking at when he may be able to return to the cage, looking for his extremely impressive run.
The Brazilian travels this Saturday to Miami for UFC 314 and hopes to guarantee a role of the back -up hunter for the enormous lightweight fight between Paddy Pimblett and Michael Chandler.
Because that is unlikely, the Fighting Nerd, however, has emphasized UFC 317 on the International Fight Week as its potential return date, aimed at Beneil Dariush as his potential opponent.
