Max Holloway hits the injury excusation of Charles Oliveira for loss in 2015 Fight
Holloway may be one victory removed from a lightweight title shot after UFC 318. A collision with a former featherweight enemy, Charles Oliveira, can be logical for the next fight of Holloway.
Holloway vs. Oliveira 2 has some extra heat after a number of recent back and forth between the two rivals.
In an interview in January with UFC.com, Oliveira was printed on a possible BMF title Rematch against Holloway 10 years after their first fight.
“I think Max spoke about it himself. We met earlier, but I was in the beginning an injury, so there was no real fight,” said Oliveira. “I think we deserve to make this fight happen.
“He moved, he is the BMF, the most difficult. I am very heavy, I have a lot of UFC records, so that would be huge.”
With TKO, Holloway only defeated Oliveira for a few seconds in the first round of their UFC Fight Night Headliner in August 2015. Oliveira ran a esophagus injury that weakened the fight in a bizarre end to their collision.
Oliveira used his injury as an excuse for why he lost to Holloway rubbed the BMF champion in the wrong direction.
During an appearance on the UFCs about the last podcast, Holloway responded to Oliveira's comments.
“The ball is in the ufc's court, we'll see what they want to do. If they want to go that way, we can go that way… there's also oliveira, I heard hey was yapping saying first first fight was with thought. A follow up and wanted to find what the injury was, there was no injury report on it.
“They said he was fine with him. So I have no idea what he is talking about.”
Oliveira's injury was described as a micro-tear in his esophagus when Holloway went for a Takedown in the first few seconds. The UFC later clarified that Oliveira's injury was not 'great', despite the fear of his long -term health after the incident.
With the victory, Holloway became the youngest hunter in the UFC history to achieve 10 victories. Oliveira made the full -time switch to lightweight at UFC 210.
At the moment, Oliveira did not respond to the latest comments from Holloway after UFC 318. He focuses on a return to the Octagon at the end of the year.
Max Holloway is said to have told Dustin Poirier that he was 'out' after eating heavy punches on UFC 318
In the meantime, Poirier made an interesting remark after the victory of Holloway's trilogy over UFC 318. Poirier claimed that Holloway told him that he was 'out' after a number of hard strokes in round 2 of their fight.
Poirier seemed to protest against the unanimous decision loss in the immediate aftermath of UFC 318. But despite his disagreements, Poirier remained steadfast about his decision to retire after the loss for Holloway.
Holloway finished Poirier almost in the first round after he had dropped his opponent twice in 10 seconds in the opening minutes of the fight. Former UFC champion Aljamain Sterling accused Holloway of 'retreating' on bumps after the two early knockdowns.
