The performance of Jose Aldo in the first round suggested that he was back at the top of his game.

The Brazilian legend seemed to hurt his opponent twice during the first five minutes of their fight.

Max Holloway succeeded in preventing him from absorbing too much damage before they rise the heat in round two.

The Hawaiian, who is known for his ridiculous output, quickly worked in a dominant position.

After 10 minutes, Aldo had a filthy -looking hematoma swelling on the left side of his head.

Holloway raised things even more in round three and Aldo just couldn't keep track of.

A straight punch dropped him on the floor before Holloway swarmed with ground attacks.

Aldo had a lot of time to make his way back in the fight, but the referee eventually came in.

“I told you that this is the 'blessed' era,” said Holloway after a career-best victory.

What is the next step for Max Holloway?

Jose Aldo recently retired after a controversial decision defeat against Aiemann Zahabi on UFC 315.

In the meantime, Max Holloway is preparing for Dustin Poirier, who is also planning to stop MMA.

'The Diamond' hopes to run away from fighting with the BMF belt that is currently owned by Holloway.

'It will be for the taking when they complete their trilogy at UFC 318 in New Orleans on July 19.

Poirier almost broke Holloway's arm when they first fought as young prospects in 2012.

The former interim light weight champion became 2-0 against Holloway when they rematch seven years later.

Poirier received a much stricter hunter, but he was still walking away with a decision gain at UFC 236 in 2019.
