Mazda unveils the EZ-6 luxury electric car

Mazda announced at the Beijing Auto Show the launch of its new electric car, the 2025 Mazda EZ-6, which will replace the traditional Mazda6 model with an internal combustion engine.

The new car represents the product of the strategic partnership between Mazda and Chinese company Changan, offering different model options, including fully electric and hybrid versions, to meet the needs of different markets. The design of the Mazda EZ-6 is characterized by modernity and luxury, while the interior is characterized by spaciousness and elegance, while incorporating the latest advanced technologies.

The car is built on the 'EPA1' platform, which is also used by the Changan Deepal SL03, and the exterior design is adorned with accents from the famous 'Kodo' design language, along with contemporary details that give the car a unique character. Among the car's notable improvements we find a partially illuminated front grille, hidden door handles and an active rear spoiler that contributes to improving dynamic performance. The dimensions of the car are 4,921 mm long, 1,890 mm wide and 1,485 mm high.

Mazda has not yet released precise details about the technical specifications of the electric and hybrid BEV and PHEV models, but expectations indicate that the new car will rely on the electrical system available in the Changan Deepal SL03. The options available for this advanced system include:

  • The first option: this includes an electric motor at the rear of the car, which generates a power of 215 hp and a torque of up to 320 Newton/meter, and draws its energy from a battery with a capacity of 58.9 kilowatt hours .
  • The second option: a more powerful electric motor in the rear with a power of 255 hp, with the same torque of 320 Newton/meter, supported by a larger battery with a capacity of 66.8 kilowatt hours.

The all-electric model of the Mazda EZ-6 is expected to offer a driving range of around 600 km, making it a suitable option for longer journeys. The hybrid version combines the efficiency of the electric motor with a combustion engine, allowing a driving range of more than 1,000 kilometers.

In addition, the car will feature an innovative front suspension system and a multi-link rear suspension system, which helps improve the car's stability and provide a comfortable and smooth driving experience on different types of roads.

The interior design of the Mazda EZ-6 reflects a clear trend towards luxury and opulence, with high-quality materials carefully selected, such as soft leather and polished wood, to give the interior a touch of elegance and refinement. The car's advanced technological features include:

  • Large 14.6-inch infotainment screen.
  • A 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster provides the driver with all the necessary data.
  • Strikingly designed steering wheel with a flat base for better control.
  • Precision designed center console for maximum comfort.
  • Thin ventilation holes add a touch of modernity to the design.
  • An ambient lighting system provides a comfortable atmosphere in the cabin.

In addition to these features, the car is equipped with advanced technologies that focus on comfort and safety, including innovative systems that reduce the risk of collisions, and an intelligent parking system that can be controlled by voice commands, even outside the car.

Production of the Mazda EZ-6 is expected to begin before the end of this year and will be exclusively for the Chinese market. In addition, Mazda will unveil a concept SUV at the Beijing show called the Mazda Arata, which shares many of its specifications with the all-electric EZ-6. This car is expected to be marketed at the end of next year under the name EZ-60.
