The last exclusive interview of Kylian Mbappé (25) was dated January 18, but amid difficulties on the pitch at the new club Real Madrid, he is about to break his silence.
The former Paris Saint-Germain striker has been absent at international level, missing the last two international breaks, while Didier Deschamps stated that his captain was not in the “best psychological conditions” when he was present during the international break in September. The reasons for his continued absence from the Les Bleus squad remain vague and come after a disappointing Euro 2024 campaign on a personal level for the AS Monaco youth product. However, Deschamps stated that Mbappe's absence from the November squad was not due to non-sporting reasons, a reference to an ongoing investigation into an alleged rape – a case in which reports suggest Mbappe is a potential suspect.
Mbappé is also having a difficult time at club level. Although he has scored 10 goals since joining Los Blancos on a free transfer last summer, it is widely believed that the Frenchman is yet to live up to expectations at the Bernabeu. He recently missed a penalty in the UEFA Champions League against Liverpool and followed that up with another miss from the spot against Athletic Club earlier this week.
It is in this context that Mbappé will speak in France on Sunday evening at 7:30 PM in the show 'Clique', broadcast on Canal Plus. In a clip shared on social media, the France captain hinted at why he did the interview. “If you're a star and you don't say anything, people speak for you because they have to talk about you. Every day something happens and I haven't even spoken to anyone yet,” he said.
