Kylian Mbappé (26) said that it would be a “big pleasure” if Zinédine Zidane was appointed manager of the national team of Franc, while again he became more distant of the decision -making process in an interview with TF1.
Speaking with Le Parisien, Mbappé was cautious about the subject of Zidane. The former manager of Real Madrid is the favorite to follow Didier Deschamps as a manager next year. Deschamps has already confirmed that he will leave his function after the end of the FIFA World Cup 2026.
Within this context, Mbappé told Le Parisien that he went so far to prevent Zidane, who also lives in Madrid, to prevent rumors about the job of the national team.
Speaking with TF1, the captain of France nevertheless admitted that Zidane was his “idol” and said he would be happy to see Zidane appointed as the successor to Deschamps. “It is not I that decision (who follows Deschamps). I am not trying to talk too much about it. It is not my job and there is already a manager there. You have to respect the people who are already present,” he started.
Mbappé added: “I no longer have to prove my love for Zidane, but I think you should respect the people who are here (Deschamps). If Zidane arrives, it would be a great pleasure. I would be extremely happy, but it is not my decision.”
