The chase of Manchester United to Bryan Mbeumo has had a huge blow, with Newcastle now being interested in Yoane Wissa and Brentford to sell both players this summer
The potential relocation from Bryan Mbeumo to Manchester United has had another blow. United has already rejected several bids for the Brentford star and the two clubs remain millions apart in their appreciation from Mbeumo.
It was recently revealed that the appointment of Keith Andrews as the new head coach of Brentford has complicated, because he wants to keep top players such as Mbeumo at the club. Andrews replaced Thomas Frank last month after the Dane took over from Ange Postecoglou in Tottenham.
And United's aim of Mbeumo took another hit after it turned out that Newcastle is focusing on Yoane Wissa, with Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike that closes to a move to Liverpool.
According to Talksport, Newcastle will make a formal approach for Wissa, which is appreciated by Brentford on more than £ 50 million. The report also states that Brentford does not want to lose both Wissa and Mbeumo in the same window. As a result, United Mbeumo could completely miss if Newcastle Wissa can sign.
The news comes after Brentford's Director of Football Phil Giles suggested that Mbeumo could still mention in West London. “He had a fantastic season,” Giles told BBC Sport, then said early to Mbeumo's future last month.
“We were expecting great interest in him, we had great interest in him. He has his ideas about where he wants to take his career, of course he does that – he is good within his rights to do that. We are constantly in dialogue with him and representatives about it.
“As it now looks that we have no agreement for him to leave. It is not impossible that next season he still is a Brentford player if we agree that he will stay. It must be the right deal for Brentford, every club will tell you that.
“If it's not good deal, why should we do it? He is definitely one of our best players, if not our best player, and we need our best players. There is no harm to keep your best players.”
Mbeumo was the key to Brentford last season, because he yielded 20 Premier League goals in 38 games, with only Liverpool star Mohamed Salah, Newcastle striker Alexander Isak and Erling Haaland from Manchester City beat him.
