Mbeumo transfer: Manchester United’s improved £62.5m bid rejected by Brentford

The second offer of Manchester United for Bryan Mbeumo, worth £ 62.5 million, was rejected by Brentford.

The improved range of United is the same figure they have paid for Wolves' Matheus Cunha.

United had already seen an offer worth £ 55 million. The conversations between the two parties continue with Mbeumo who wants to become a member of the Old Trafford Club.

Sky Sports News revealed earlier this month that Spurs also had first conversations with Brentford for the 25-year-old.

Mbeumo is supposed to be intrigued by Spurs, who have just appointed his former boss Thomas Frank, but one source has told Sky Sports News that he tends to United.

Mbeumo is a player who has admired United for a while and is seen as a good fit for Ruben Amorim's system.

There is a feeling at Brentford that Mbeumo has earned the opportunity to move to a larger club this summer if they are satisfactory.

What do the statistics say?

Sky Sports Data Editor Adam Smith:

Only Mohamed Salah collected more form points than Mbeumo, according to the Sky Sports Power Rankings.

Factoring In decisive goals or assists that changed the results of competitions, his 27 target contributions earned Brentford 22 points, equal to 40 percent of the bees season.
