Merab Dvalishvili wants Sean O'Malley to bring their relationship back to the bitter depths of last summer while they go to a rematch.
The Bantamweight -duo were intense rivals on their way to UFC 306 last September, but seem to have patched things in recent weeks. O'Malley has even been free for DvalishVili while they are preparing to complete themselves on UFC 316 for the second time.
Now the champion wants them to go back to how things were like last year, when they were constantly in each other's throat. O'Malley seems to be a changed man in recent months, leave social media and to make a number of major lifestyle changes.
Merab Dvalishvili demands that Sean O'Malley goes back to the trash can
In a recent podcast with details about his new lifestyle prior to UFC 316, Sean O'Malley made a number of surprisingly complementary observations about Merab Dvalishvili. It is far removed from their bitter feud that led to the historic UFC 306 headliner last September at the Las Vegas Sphere location.
The former champion noted that if he had won the first fight, the legacy of Dvalishvili may have been damaged. But now after the victories over O'Malley and Umar Nurmagomedov, there are many arguments for the place of the Georgian as the greatest of all time at 135 pounds.
“I will be grateful for Merab in the sense that he hit me, he made me a better not only hunter, a better person, a better person,” O'Malley explained. “Loss is a strange thing. Where there is struggle, there is an opportunity for growth.”
This seemed to annoy the champion, who took jokes to X to respond to the compliments from the famous trash O'Malley. He wants him back to his old manners and says to the American: “Cut it out of mfckkrs – go back to talk s – I have to be angry with you again.”
Sean O'Malley and Merab Dvalishvili seem to have developed a friendship
It does indeed seem that the former rivals are in fact friends nowadays after they have put their differences aside. They were spotted to share a jacuzzi together in a recent video, where they discussed the potential fight in much friendlier than their first meeting.
O'Malley has already taken one scalp over the Dvalishvili team when he won the belt of Aljamain Sterling in the summer of 2023. At the time, the feud between the two sides was really bitter, but they are now bording pals.
“Ready to go again?” O'Malley asked Merab before checking in on his weight. “What do you weigh? 158LBS, 157 pounds?” He interviewed. “Something like that,” replied Dvalishvili.
“Did you enjoy Champ Life?” asked O'Malley. “Start, no, now I am,” Dvalishhvili admitted. “Your last fight was impressive, you looked good, it was a nice fight to watch,” O'Malley told him. “When we fight again, I know that you are struggling and then I know you are going to change,” said Dvalishhvili.
“I only had one hip last time, I now have both hips,” replied O'Malley. “I'm going to use my striking. You think I won't do that, do you think I won't do that?” Dvalishvili then responded to the famous knockout artist laughed in his suggestion.
