Paul Merson 'cannot believe' Chelsea does not focus on Ebereechi Eze in an attempt to strengthen their 'predictable' attack.
The Crystal Palace No 10 has been the subject of much interest this summer, with First Arsenal and later Tottenham Hotspur who compete for his signature.
He now seems to stand up for a switch to the latter, as Daily Mail Sport revealed, with a deal that is expected to be agreed between Spurs and the Eagles in the 'the next two to three days'.
It is thought that Palace is looking for a reimbursement of approximately £ 50 million plus add-ons, with the edges of the two club closer to the corresponding conditions during the relocation.
But Merson, who is an avid Chelsea supporter, despite his ties with Arsenal, cannot understand why the blues do not hijack the transfer.
The side of Enzo Maresca was held on Sunday at a 0-0 draw at Stamford Bridge against Palace and, given their pursuit of Alejandro Garnacho and Xavi Simons, are clearly on the market for attackers to improve their front line.
Merson wrote in his SkySportkolom and explained that Chelsea needs an attacker to illuminate the pressure on Cole Palmer to make things happen in the famous blue of Chelsea.
“I can't believe that Chelsea is not going for Ebereechi Eze,” wrote the 57-year-old.
“I really don't know what I am missing. They buy a winger after a winger, but they need deception. They need more than Palmer.
'If you get Eze, you have two players who can break down teams. They are predictable for me, they play with two Quick Wingers with Palmer that she tries to feed. '
Merson continued to describe Chelsea's opening League armor as a 'worrying' sign of what could come in view of the clear dependence on the party on Palmer.
“Chelsea was not good against Crystal Palace, the draw was disturbing,” he added.
'If Cole Palmer will not split a team, I am not sure who is for Chelsea.
'Palmer is now the city's conversation in team talking to Chelsea. Teams try to stop him because they think he is stopping him, stop Chelsea.
'Stop Cole Palmer will be the message for West Ham on Friday. That's just how it is. He needs some support, if opposition teams choose him and mark him well, I am not sure what Chelsea has.
“Pedro Neto and Jamie Gittens have pace, but they struggled to beat their defenders on Sunday.”
By the time the window is coming, Maresca more than probably has both Simons and Garnacho in his ranks.
Allegedly, a deal for the first will be completed after the start of the Bundesliga season this weekend, where RB Leipzig appreciates the midfielder at around £ 60 million.
In the meantime, it is thought that the Argentinian Manchester United Outcast has already agreed with Chelsea, but there is a gap in the appreciation of the two clubs of him.
The blues will probably have to chop players from their inflated team before they splash the £ 60m united to Garnacho.
Todd Boehly and Co are reportedly working on to do that, with a maximum of nine players who run the risk of being sold by Chelsea before the transfer window closes early next month.
It is thought that the club is trying to arrange sales or loans for Christopher Nunku, Nicolas Jackson, Renato Veiga, Alex Disasi, Carney Chukwuemeka, Ben Chilwell, Tyrique George and Raheem Sterling.
After an overwhelming loan spell on Arsenal in the last term, Sterling would like to be a permanent step away from the club, but his £ 325,000 a week's contract is something of a stumbling block in transfer negotiations.
Fulham, Crystal Palace and West Ham United are all interested in securing his signature, whereby the former international England promotes a switch to a London -based club.
