Arsenal was previously interested in a deal for former Bayern Munich -star Leroy Sane, only for him to seal a shock movement to Turkish Giant Galatasaray – and now Mesut Ozil has now spoken on the switch
Mesut Ozil insists that he had no role in playing in Leroy Sane who rejects Arsenal in favor of Galatasaray. It was thought that the Gunners were interested earlier this summer in a movement for the former star Sane of Bayern Munich.
He was out of contract with the German giants at the end of this month. But he surprisingly chose to pursue an exit after he had written a lucrative deal with Turkish Giants Galatasaray.
Reports have suggested that the former Arsenal star Ozil was crucial for the movement after he convinced him to move to Istanbul, a statement that he denies. Ozil spoke with local Turkish media and said: “Big names are coming to Turkey. They play football here.
“Hopefully our big clubs will also be successful in Europe. I am very happy that Sane has come to Turkey. He is someone who, like me, has come from the Schalke Youth Academy.”
When asked about the claims that he played a role in Sane's decision, Ozil confirmed that the couple had talked – but not specifically about Galatasaray. He added: “We talked before I came to Turkey, but it is not as if I have directed him to Galatasaray as written in the media …
“He asked about life in Turkey and Istanbul, we spoke about these things. I said it was a very nice city and a safe city. I said we had incredible food. I said we would be very happy if you were to come, and he came. We wish him success too.”
Sane, 29, has already pronounced his surprise switch to Turkey. Before he agreed with Galatasaray, it seemed that he would only bind his future to Bayern to U-Bend.
He explained why he made that call and said: “The decision was not easy for me. My time here was not always easy, but there were also many highlights. I felt at home here, I enjoyed a lot last season and I was able to make many friends in the team over the years.”

He added: “Even if the media depicted it that way, there was never an agreement of 100 percent. Unfortunately, in my opinion, that has exerted unnecessary pressure on all parties involved. But it is now – I am not angry with someone.”
Sane is expected to earn a huge wage during his time in Turkey, who is said to have brought a pen on paper over a three -year deal with a value of more than £ 10 million per season. Bayern Munich confirmed that after his move had been announced that Sane would still be in action for them at the club World Cup until his contract went on 30 June.
