And it is that larger-than-life personality that has allowed him to transition effortlessly into the film world.

The icon has secured many a notable role, with his recent appearance in Den of Thieves 2: Pantera set to be one of his biggest yet.

In the film, which was released yesterday, the Englishman delivered a stellar performance, showcasing his acting talent in a blockbuster that also showcases the greatness of Gerard Butler.

Bisping has now spoken candidly about his positive experiences working around one of the industry's brightest talents.

In an exclusive interview with Bloody Elbow, the former king of the middleweight division enthused: “Gerard Butler, you couldn't meet a nicer man, and I really mean that. I never did any scenes with him, unfortunately I would have liked to.

“We hung out and had dinner a few times. We stayed in the same hotel, so I bumped into him often.

'He's just a warm, genuine, friendly, normal guy. He's obviously hugely successful and a global superstar, but just a nice, normal, yet down-to-earth person. That was beautiful to see.

“We shared some great dinners and he gave me some great advice.”

It's no surprise that a mixed martial artist of Bisping's caliber is regularly used in fight scenes, where the fighter's expertise comes in handy.

Considering this, it goes without saying that the star has had many an epic confrontation during his journey in the acting world.

However, filming these sequences isn't always easy, as Bisping discovered when he sent a big name in the industry flying to the ground when he accidentally connected with a punch.
