Ilia Topuria accused of 'lying' about his weight before he goes up a division

In anticipation of his switch to the lightweight division, Topuria has constantly tried to fight against the current champion, Islam Makhachev, despite the fact that Makhachev was not interested.

The most important reason for the 28-year-old to leave his featherweight title was because he claimed that the weight reduction was too much for him and that he runs around 180-190 pounds.

After this revelation, however, Topuria was branded by a lightweight competition, Michael Chandler.

“His first fight in the UFC at lightweight, he was fallen by a main kick,” Chandler began to explain to covers.

Topuria went in weight to fight Jai Herbert in UFC London in 2022 to struggle to find an opponent in featherweight. He administered the defeat for humbling before scored a frightening knockout.

“Now I'm not going to say that that will happen, or we light weights are so much bigger and worse than the small feather weights.

“But I will say, these are some big guys. We get much harder than the 145 people. It will be a very interesting jump-up.

“I think he is lying a bit about the weight. I don't think he weighs 190 pounds. I have seen the man, I stood next to the man, we had conversations, being said, yes, I think it would be cool for him to come in and fight someone in the top five to get the title shot,” Chandler went further.

Joe Rogan believes that Ilia Topuria will not fight against Makhachev

Although Topuria is hopeful that his Starpower will lead to him fighting immediately against the Russian position of Makhachev on the fight, it seems unlikely.

And with that Topuria Online Haken with the former lightweight champion, Charles Oliveira, after 'Do Bronx' admitted that he would not be interested in combating 'El Matador'.

UFC icon, Joe Rogan, also thinks that the promotion will go in a different direction and first match Topuria with a lightweight competition first.

“I don't think (Makhachev vs Topuria) happens,” he claimed on an episode of his Fight Companion on Saturday.

“I wonder what they are going to do with Topuria. I love Topuria vs Oliveira. Oliveira is so long, so dangerous everywhere, enormous range of reach. Those light weights are really big, Islam is huge.”
